    Are there any 220V switchs?

    Hey all,
So I was looking at getting a water shutoff valve for our house as a security precaution but how our plumbing is setup it looks like we're better off getting a switch to just turn off our Well Pump instead of putting a valve in. Plus get another 220v switch to shut off the Hot Water Heater as well.

Our well pump runs on 220v, but I've only been able to find standard 110v on/off switches.

Does anyone know of a 220 zwave+ switch?

    Thanks!

Both the Qubino and Fibaro micro switches can handle 110v or 220v. However, they're designed for a single 220 line as opposed to two separate 110 lines. Two modules??

On either module you could install a simple on/off switch (no neutral) to S1, line and load only or a double pole double throw switch with a line to both of the switches. Then you could either control via HS3 or manually flip a switch that would tell the micro switch(es) to cut power.

This way you have z-wave control and a manual override.

I'm not an electrician so check carefully but I just looked at one of my old conventional switches and it's rated to 277v. The challenge may be the amperage of the hot water heater.

I realize not your thing but wanted to mention that I have my well pump on a 220V relay as well as my 220v water heater on another relay. However, my devices are Insteon. Works well.

Do you not have a pressure tank in your well set up?
Turning off the pump does not usually depressurize the system.

You are correct. I do have a pressure tank. The check valve keeps the pressure on. My need was to be able to turn it off during very cold times when I am away. I have a fear of a pipe busting and the pump staying on and pumping until something much worst happens such as burning up the pump. Should that happen, I wanted the water heater off too so that it doesn't go dry and damage itself.

Actually, I don't use it often. I can control both of the relays from my HSTouch app remotely.

Both of the switches are wired for 'Normally Closed' so that most of the time they are not energized. They do get a little warm when they are Open (pump off and heater off) but nothing that I really worry about.

I'm guessing this is the relay unit you have for them?

That would be perfect, I just dont have Insteon... just Zwave.

Your nightmares are well justified. We bought another house in town and moved a couple of months ago- and were planning on listing the home in March. Over the winter, the temperature fell into the negative double digits-- and we had a pipe freeze at the old place. Thousands of gallons of hot water from the furnace pumped out into house and streamed it up. Things that were not even touched by water rusted out. 2 feet of water in the basement.

Not a lot of personal property loss-- but my lord the mess. Small house and probably 6 figures worth of damage.

I keep kicking myself for not having shut off the well. Would have been a small problem not even worth the deductible.

I have water sensors that I moved to the new place: and I am considering a zwave switch for the well as well...
