    HomeSeer Mobile Feature Requests

We are deep in development of our new mobile application for use with HS3. If you have a feature you would like to see in this application, please post your request here.

    FAQ (subject to change!):

Q: Is this a free app?
A: Yes, this application will be free for HS3 users

Q: What is different between HomeSeer Mobile and HSTouch?
A: HSTouch will live on as our custom solution for creating a custom control app using the HSTouch Designer. HomeSeer Mobile is a new app built from the ground up to be fast and easy to use. It will not be as customizable as HSTouch, but it will be easier to use.

Q: What will the UI look like?
A: Soon we will post some screen shots for comments. It will contain user configurable dashboards, devices lists, device details, and camera views.

    Q: Will it require MyHS?
A: No, you can easily log in with your MyHS credentials, or you can connect directly to your HS3 system using its IP or DNS name.

There are a number of things I would like to see, most of which will likely be in the app. I will have suggestions once I get my hands on it.

One thing that would be good is faster and more reliable connections when using iOS. HSTouch has improved over time, but there is still the occasional need to close it and open it again to get it to connect and work.

It would be nice to have user level access restrictions for Events as well as devices. It would be useful to have access to the last change date/time for Devices.

Oh my, Lots of things but like Randy, won't really know until I get what has been completed thus far in my hands and put it all to the test.

One thing is important to me. The ability to export entire setups to other devices and then make modification based on those devices/users/locations.

Example: With Imperihome I take my well developed setup and export it to my wife/daughter/house etc. devices and make modifications to the setup based on those who use that device.

This has saved me a TON of time.

Since it's not as customizable as HSTouch, I hope it allows for some different methods of 'skinning' the app with different themes.

          First. Woooooohooo.

Now for some wishlist items. What others have said plus: The ability to create dashboards in the app on the mobile device. The ability to create hs events on the mobile. Mobile notifications. On iOS: URL app launching.

          Looking forward to screenshots.

The app needs to switch and render properly between portrait and landscape.

I don't believe developers have access to Siri yet, but I will check. The android version will have voice input.

Your IOS device uses touch ID to log into the device. Why would you want to have to log in again to this app? Not many apps do that, other than financial type apps.

Because someone could pick up an unlocked phone and then run the app. Lots of applications aside from finance support this it’s pretty commonplace. Personally I have to lock my phone automatically after 60 seconds but most don’t.

Are you looking to have the sign-in process for the HS Mobile app integrate with Apple Touch ID so you can use your fingerprint (or face with Face ID) to log in to HS Mobile instead of typing out your credentials?

Setup/Configuration of items maybe on the device as well as being able to Push them from a server based application? I wouldn't be able to get my teenage daughter's phone from her for long so if I could Push a configuration to her it would be helpful. Likewise it would be nice if I could create one on my phone and push it back to the server for use on other devices or even as a backup.

I would like to see an interface where I can select items to show on a main page options on how to show them. It could be a list by name with a status image or text for one person, but maybe a grid of images for another person. Select Grid then select a Grid Size as in 2x2, 2x3, etc. and then allow for Profiles to be loaded on each unit so that these Profiles are set up and can be used differently for a tablet than a phone. While a responsive web design approach might be nice, it may confuse many.

Maybe you decide what items are shown in the interface by checking a box in the device's Configuration tab, similar to the Voice check box?

Google Assistant works the same as having a Google Home unit, and it works with the same commands even when not at the house, so maybe just integrate the voice with Google Home on android?

Some of the suggestions I have read would be better if integrated directly into HomeSeer itself, over a mobile app to interact with HomeSeer. One example being Calendar and Contact integration.

From a description of WWDC. Looks like SiriKit is what you want to look into for voice.

Also HomeKit can now be software only. I wish you would add support for that to homeseer.

Every year, WWDC provides an opportunity for millions of developers to learn more about how to create new experiences across Apple's platforms for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac and HomePod. A broad range of robust developer APIs, including SiriKit, HomeKit, HealthKit, GymKit, MusicKit, ResearchKit, and CoreML, give developers new ways to help users take command of everything from their health and homes, to how they get around, shop and learn. Last year at WWDC Apple debuted ARKit, and since then, developers with apps in every category on the App Store have embraced inventive ways to engage customers with virtual experiences overlaid in the real world.

Correct, you click sign in and it asks for your touch ID or FaceID and automatically logs in with the credentials already saved. Also if you want to get crafty figure out a way to incorporate NFCkit.

We have looked at many HA apps, and while there isn't a standard, I did not find one that forced a login. I would say if you want security, make sure your phone auto locks.

But that being said, I would like to hear feedback from others. Would you want a secondary login to get into this app? I would never use it as my phone locks automatically and I don't want the extra step. If there is interest, we could make this an option.

Since HomeSeer does not support HomeKit right now, this app will not support it. If at some point we add HomeKit support, then we could add it.
