Aeotec Range Extender 6, Z-Wave Plus repeater

I have a couple of these arriving in a few days. I am currently using a Z-NET v2.

Is there any special setup for including these in, or do I pair them just like any other zwave device?

    thanks!

Yes, just pair them like any other z-wave device. I also make sure to optimize at least twice after adding a new z-wave device.

When you optimize, do you do Full or regular?

I do a full from the ZWave tab in the newly added device root.

I have just bought 2 range extenders for a project. The project is basically a heating system with 10 popp radiator valves but due to the size of the place I needed to boost the zwave signal. I've added the range extenders but nothing seems to happen. I had expected the valves to see the range extender. I've tried a couple of optimisations.

Do these range extenders do anything more than just using a normal z-wave module? I am going to be adding some stuff into my garage and I think my network is weakest on that end of the house.

They are supposed to have a slightly stronger signal than a standard Z-Wave device but as with any Z-Wave install, the more devices you have, the stronger the mesh. If you don't have a lot of devices on that end of the house, you may want to look at putting a Z-Net in the garage and set up a sub-network (if you are using HS).

You might try moving your range extenders to different locations. I have a ZWave plus device inside a metal enclosure outside the house that isn’t more than 30 feet from my z-net and have to place an extender literally on the opposite side of the wall from the device.

I assume you’ve done a full optimization of the entire network since adding the extenders, not just a full optimization on the individual device, correct?
