How to disable local control of z-wave light switch

I'm trying to find a way to disable local control of a z-wave light switch. The light switch is the main room light for my two year old daughter's room. I don't want her to be able to turn the light on when she should be asleep.

I haven't been able to find anyway of disabling local control of the switch. The best I have been able to do is get the switch to turn itself back off after a few seconds of being turned on.

    Any ideas?

    I'm using a GE z-wave plus dimmer model 14294.

You could put a mini switch behind the light switch and have it switch off the power to the GE switch at a certain time. If there is room. Something like this https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/col...tch-zl-7431-us

The short answer is you can't.

So you need to look for some creative ways.

You could pull the "air gap" on the bottom of the switch, when you don't want it to be turned on.

They do make child proof covers for light switches that you need to be tall enough to stick your fingers from the top only.

      https://www.amazon.com/Child-Proof-L.../dp/B004QU7JTA

They also make locked out switches

      https://www.amazon.com/Wall-Switch-C.../dp/B01AOHCUPQ

There is also in wall micro switches like that was already pointed out that you could eliminate the physical switch.

I like the micro switch idea, however remember you have to put the switch in line ahead of the dimmer itself. Treat the GE dimmer like its the light, the dimmer then in turn controls the light when you choose to supply it with power

How about an event based on time and scene?

For HS dimmers, you could create an event that on single tap during nighttime, the light is turned off. Other times, it turns the light on.

Currently we have a child proof cover over the switch. The reason I only want to disable the switch based on time is so our daughter can turn the light on in the morning. We want the light to be disabled from 8pm until 6am. That way she can turn the light on if she wakes up early.

Currently I am using an event to turn the light off if it is turned on during that time period. The only problem is that the light takes 3 seconds to fully turn on before it can be turned off again. I think this is related to the dimming speed of the light. It would be nice if the light didn't turn on before it could be turned back off.

I am wondering if I could change the settings/parameters in the light switch as part of the event to set a max dimming level or change the speed of dimming. The parameters for the GE/Jasco switch are documented here under 12724 Smart Dimmer: http://www.ezzwave.com/advanced-operation/

Here is my current setup using a virtual switch to control if the light should be turned off when it is turned on. Also here are the options I appear to have for settings/parameters in this z-wave light switch.

I would try increasing the local ramp rate; perhaps 10, and decreasing the timer to 1
