    IT-100 damaged with storm

    Anybody knows a way to prevent damage to IT100? It's seams that when there a storm nearby my it100 gets damaged, anyone seem this in your setup?

    There's not a lot you can do against lightning strikes especially in your area. You may want to consider going to a wireless solution.

      I used to get a lot of DSC IT-100 boards damaged by nearby lightning. Somewhere I read a tip to make sure my DSC system had a really good ground on the main DSC board. Since I wired that in, I have not seen a blown board. It may be a coincidence, but it is easy enough to try.

        Where on the board did you ground it? And what source of ground did you ground it too?

          On the DSC 1864 main board there is a ground connection (labeled EGND) 5 slots from the end. I connected that directly to the ground wires feeding my wall plug. I also use an plug in surge protector for the plug that the alarm system gets its power.
