    Complete Install Instructions

    I. What is required?
If you currently have the NX-8 panel you will need the NX-584 installed as well. The NX-8e has the automation interface already installed so doesn't require the additional board.
II. Wiring the Panel to your Homeseer machine.
    [COMING SOON]

    III. Configuring the Caddx panel
The following parameters need to be set in order to establish functionality between the panel and the plug-in. These can be set via the DL900 software as well, but I always program via the LCD keypad, which is what the steps below refer to.

    1) Panel Programming Refresher Course
If you're familiar with programming the panel via the keypad already you can skip ahead to section 2 and get started.

    a) To enter "program mode" from the keypad, push "* 8", you'll be prompted to enter your code.
Note: This is the code for program mode NOT your user code. The factory default code is 9713.

    b) You'll be prompted for a device address
    For the NX8e, press "0 #".
    For the NX584, press "72 #".
    c) You'll be prompted for a "Location" and are ready to begin entering the settings below. For this tutorial, we'll go ahead and do first one, "Enable Zones Snapshot Message".
    For the NX8e press "2 1 0 #".
    For the NX584 press "2 #"
    d) You will now be shown "Segment 1 of that location. If a number 6 is not showing then press "6" on the keypad to toggle it on.

    e) Now press "#" to exit this location.

Continue with letter "b" below. For locations that list a segment other than '1', use the '*' key to "step" through each segment until you reach the correct one.

    2) Required parameter settings
    a) Enable Zones Snapshot Message
(NX-584) Location 2, Segment 1, Data 6. (OFF by default)
(NX-8e) Location 210, Segment 1, Data 6. (OFF by default)
    b) Enable Partition Status Message
(NX-584) Location 2, Segment 1, Data 7. (ON by default)
(NX-8e) Location 210, Segment 1, Data 7. (ON by default)
    c) Enable Partitions Snapshot Request
(NX-584) Location 3, Segment 1, Data 8. (ON by default)
(NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 1, Data 8. (ON by default)
    d) Enable Zone Name Requests
(NX-584) Location 3, Segment 1, Data 4. (ON by default)
(NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 1, Data 4. (ON by default)
    e) Enable Zone Snapshots Requests
(NX-584) Location 3, Segment 1, Data 6. (ON by default)
(NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 1, Data 6. ON by default)
    f) Enable Primary Keypad Function with PIN
(NX-584) Location 3, Segment 4, Data 5. (OFF by default)
(NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 4, Data 5. (OFF by default)
    g) Enable Secondary Keypad Function
(NX-584) Location 3, Segment 4, Data 7. (ON by default)
(NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 4, Data 7. (ON by default)
    h) Set the Home Automation Protocol to ASCII.
    (NX-584) Location 0, Segment 1, Data 1.
    (NX-8e) Location 209, Segment 1, Data 1.
    i) Set Serial Port Enable (Only need to set on the NX-8e)
    (NX-8e) Location 207, Segment 1. Set this to 1.
    j) To enable the option of sending text messages to the keypad:
    (NX-584) Location 3, Segment 2, Data 4 and 5
    (NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 2, Data 4 and 5
    k) To enable the option of synchronizing the panel clock:
    (NX-584) Location 3, Segment 4, Data 4
    (NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 4, Data 4
    l) To enable the option of bypassing zones:
    (NX-584) Location 3, Segment 4, Data 8
    (NX-8e) Location 211, Segment 4, Data 8
    m) To give HomeSeer access to Auxiliary Out 1 & 2
    (NX-8/NX-8e) set Location 47, Segment 1 to '49' and Location 48, Segment 1 to '50'

WARNING!! - The NX-8 does NOT toggle an output set for 'latching' as expected.

    IV. Installing the Plug-In
    1) Launch the Homeseer updater by clicking "Help->updates..."

    2) Scroll down the list of updates and put a 'check' next to "Caddx Plug-In"

    3) Click the "Install Now" button and follow any additional prompts.
    a) At the "Do you have Perl installed?" prompt click no unless you have a full install of ActiveState Perl.
    4) When the install is complete, click the "Return to HomeSeer" button.

    5) The current version of HS now automatically "activates" downloaded plug-ins so all that is left to do is configuring the plug-in.
    V. Configuring the Plug-In
    1) In HS, click "View->options...", then click on the "Interfaces" tab.

    2) Highlight "Caddx Plug-In" under "Active Interfaces" and click the "Setup" button. This opens the Caddx Plug-In config window.

    3) Under the "General" tab:
    a) Select the proper COM port which is connected to the Caddx panel.

    b) Set the Baud rate to match what was set in the panel

    c) Enter a valid user# along with it's passcode as programmed into the panel (this is used to perform arms and disarms)

    d) If you would like the ability to disarm your alarm via HS, put a check in the "Allow Disarms" item.

    e) If you would like the ability to control the alarm from scripts running within HS, put a check in "Allow Scripting".
    4) Under the "Zone Mappings(1)" tab:
    a) Each numbered box represents the physical zone programmed into the panel. Type a HS device code (i.e. z10) into each box that you want represented in HS.

    b) The "Chime", "Trip" and "Armed" status devices are the only mandatory entries.

    c) If you have zones programmed in the panel higher than 64, use the Zone Mappings(2) and (3) to enter those.

    d) Putting a "check" in the "Web Bttns" box will direct the plugin to create buttons on the HS web interface as well as in the GUI.

    e) The re-create box, when checked, directs the plug-in to delete each virtual device if it exists and then re-create it. This is mostly for debugging purposes, or in the situation when the device already existed as a different type. The plugin skips already existing devices under normal "Create Devices" operation.

    f) When you've entered your zones, click the "Create Devices" button to have the plugin automatically create the appropriate devices.

    5) Now click "Save". You will be prompted to restart Homeseer.

    VI. Verify Operation
    1) The first indication that the plugin is functional is that you'll now have a "Caddx Plug-In" option along the top task bar in HS.

    2) To verify communication to the panel, click on the "Caddx Plug-In" task bar item and select "Toggle Chime". You should here the keypad chime to indicate it executed the command.

Congratulations, you should be up and running now!
