Hometrollers are great(many pluses), but yes you could just buy HS3 software and put on a inexpensive machine. It's not really the hometroller your paying for, but the software. Hs3pro when not on...

haven't come across this so far, but a work around might be to get basic nodemcu info into log via mqtt broker(windows, cloud, or dedicated pi) and HS3 MQTT plugin(free).
