for giggles i did, same response. The /dev/ttyS0 or S1 (usually S0) works.

I'm not sure why the all of the sudden happened to the Zee S2 as it was working as well a the S6. I don't know if it's been an update or what but the S6 still works but none of the Zee S2 do and Ive switched so much around that is why I've just stuck to try to get just one working.

when you plugin in the 2413U , you should see a new COM port show in the device manager. this is what you would use on the plugin config page.
Yes, it was assigning COM4 which was verified by plugging and unplugging the interface.

At the present time, I am using the 2413S that is fixed on the COM1 port on the S6 Windows 10 box.

will the plugin recognize the 2413u on COM4?

My understand from HST is that the Zee exposes ports as ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1, etc.

these are the values that should work in the plugin

Yes, if I switch to the 2413U it will see it. However, it takes 4 or 5 times of disabling the plugin and re-enabling it.

The 2413S only takes 1 time of disabling and re-enabling.

So, I can make it work, but shouldn't this start up on its own without my intervention?

this is an issue with the usb port not the plugin. The port isn't being initialized properly/timely when you connect the 2413U.

all the plugin does is open the port and send a couple of cmds to the plm. if the plugin can't open the port then it errors out.

Does it work immediately when you restart the Zee S2 or other appliance?

No, as a matter of fact, that is when it fails. Since I am a newbie, is this something homeseer should address? It is their box and software.

The zwave device starts up every time without fail.

can you tell me the port name you entered into the plugin for the 2413U?

                        and for the 2413S

HST will just refer you back to me if the issue is plugin specific.

                          COM1 for the 2413S

                          COM4 for the 2413U

It's almost like maybe the port comes up delayed from a reboot and you poll it before its up.

Is there a log file i can capture for you?

It might be helpful, if you could enable detailed logging on the plugin config page, and then copy and paste the hs startup log into a post here. I'm curious if the plugin is generating an insteon error report.log file if there is an exception during startup.

In general the plugin starts when hs initializes it. I guess the assumption is that hs and the underlying hardware are ready when a plugin starts.

I restarted the machine and after it booted completely, I had to restart the plug-in to get it started. I noted the place in the log that I restarted it.

This is with using the 2413S on COM1 on a rs232 port. There are no converters, etc....
