I moved over to the rock 64 with 4GB of memory running Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit. I combined everything into one system, no more remote plugins. I am leaving my second instance of HS3 on the dual RPi3 setup.

So far the only issue is RFXCOM, which is generating warnings about the callback queue several times an hour. I am currently using it to monitor three Oregon temperature sensors, so I am contemplating just removing it and getting different sensors.

What is the version of the Z-Wave plugin you are running?

Can you make sure you are running with the latest Beta? I know there was an issue with some of the plugins that caused this recursive crash. However, I would not expect the crash to be in HS3 if this was the case, but I want to rule it out. The latest beta for sure does not have this issue. (at least not the one I know about)

Where did you find a bootable image of Ubuntu 16.04 for the Rock 64?

I got mine a several weeks ago and have yet to find ANY image of any Linux OS flavor that will boot successfully.

              -M.

Here is a link for Ubuntu 16.04...on the Rock64.

You write the image to a microSD card same as you would for writing an RPi Wheezy, Jessie or Stretch image.

Currently running 16.04 here on the Pine64 2Gb computer - over a year now...

I have upgraded to .393 and notice a curious problem when I come to rename a device - I have recorded a video in case it makes it easier to explain but renaming a device causes the device code to drop out. I use the device code in the plugin to determine which device is controlled so it is pretty fatal to the plugin that this is erased.

I tried it here and I cannot get this to happen. Plugins have access to device addresses, is it possible one of your plugins is doing this? Can you disable all your plugins and see if it still happens?

I have disabled every plugin apart from the plugin that was creating these devices, still behaves the same.

I then disabled that plugin (leaving HS with no plugins running at all) and it still is behaving this way. I've tried running hs.saveeventsdevices and then trying and still is the same.

One thing odd I have noticed is that the plugin was connected remotely and in the interfaces page showed no detail - is that linked with anything??

                        Hi MrHappy,

Looking at the video, I see that the the address code is just "2". I believe that is an invalid address code, as it should have a letter and a number, like A2 or B24. If you open the device, I see the Code (the field above the address) is already empty, so on save it will probably use that to overwrite the invalid code.

Also, I think it is recommended to use the address field (and NOT the address code field) in plugins. If you set an address in a plugin, a user is unable to overwrite the field (perhaps only with a script) so it ensures it will never change by accident by a user.

This info is correct. Try changing your codes to something with a letter and a number.

I was under the impression (and using the Z-Wave plugin as an example) that the address can be what you want (and in my case it is a UID of the light bulb that is programmed into it) then you can set the code again to what you want and in my case I set it to the device number which is not that different to how the Z-Wave plugin appears to work. So when I call hs.DeviceExistsAddressFull I can pass the address+code and get the reference fine.

I thought that setting this property on a plugin created device meant that a user couldn't edit it - see here at 39:20s

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TjSOfARK4Y&t=39m20s

and even so shouldn't it be retained if all I do is go into the page and edit the name? I dare to change any other devices at the minute as I don't know the implication of it.

The address field cannot be changed by the user if set by a plugin. The code field can be changed always by the user. Therefor, I am only using the address part in my plugins.

The video is a bit confusion. I didn't see the whole video, but the code they use is "00E66A84-3-Q3". This means that "00E66A84-3" is the address, and "Q3" is the code. I guess you could do the same in your plugin, and you wouldn't need to rely on the code field anymore.

This hasn't change recently, so it probably has nothing to do with build 393.

I got mine a several weeks ago and have yet to find ANY image of any Linux OS flavor that will boot successfully.

I got it from the ayufan github site (as referenced from the pine64 site) back around the beginning of October. It booted right up from SD no problem. I later copied it over to eMMC and that is working well also. I have not tried any of the newer releases. It seems to still be a work in progress, maybe I just got lucky.
