    PLM_ProcessInBuffer received STX 0x52 ???

Ok, what does this mean? I looked at my logs/console this evening and increased the errors to "detailed'. I see this:

these look like x10 status request msgs received by the plm

are you using x10? please elaborate on when these msgs are logged? are you doing polling, or something else?

Not sure when they started. I have not made any changes other than keeping homeseer up-to-date along with the plugins.

I have 8 X10 devices that I have not yet replaced with Insteon.
None support anything fancy. Dimming light switches and receptacles. I did not think any of my X10 devices were capable of bi-directional communication.

I went from HS 3.0.0.318 (did not see the messages at all) to x.357.
I saw the messages last night and updated to 368.

      The messages continued.

I am not entirely sure what to check for.

which plugin version are you running?

try disabling your x10 devices one-by-one to see which might be transmitting these msgs.

The most current as of last night.

          Will do on the x10

So, not really sure how to disable a pure X10 device.
FOr now, I checked the box for "Do not log commands from this device:" on each of the eight devices.

            waiting to see what happens.

Ok, this may help a bit... Turned on DIAG logging. Seeing this repetitively:

              Code:
Oct-14 7:33:05 AM Insteon	Unable to process X10 command because a devicecode was not transmitted first.
Oct-14 7:33:05 AM Insteon	Processing Received X10 Command: Status Request, Data:15

Oct-14 7:30:44 AM Insteon	Unable to process X10 command because a devicecode was not transmitted first.
Oct-14 7:30:44 AM Insteon	Processing Received X10 Command: Status Request, Data:15

Any idea on what that highlighted entry means?

Not sure if it helps, uploaded a zip file containing the Insteon.ini, the Insteon Error Report and the HS Log file.

To the best of my knowledge, I am not doing anything to cause this.
I do not believe I am purposefully polling any X10 device.

I do not see to how disable the X10 devices in homeSeer.

                Insteon plugin: 3.0.6.23
                HS3 Standard Edition 3.0.0.368 (Linux)

The messages seem to be sporadic. They come and go.

the plugin is only logging what it receives. its not generating these x10 msgs. its coming from your x10 devices or maybe someone else's.

there are entries in the posted log that might help you identify what's going on. for instance, I found this:

                  10/12/2017 11:18:03 PM - PLM_ProcessInBuffer received STX 0x52 (Raw X10 Rec):FE 80
                  10/12/2017 11:18:03 PM - Processing Received X10 Command: J Status=Off
                  10/13/2017 1:52:08 PM - PLM_ProcessInBuffer received STX 0x52 (Raw X10 Rec):7E 80
                  10/13/2017 1:52:08 PM - Processing Received X10 Command: I Status=Off
                  are you using housecode I, M, J?

also check device M13. I saw a status msg from that specific device

does the plugin log these status msgs when you turn any of the x10 devices on/off locally?

                      I guess that's it then.

All my X10 devices can only be set A-J (or whatever the hardware defaults are). So the M13 must be being generated from some electronic device somewhere in my house or a neighbors.

Too bad there is no way to suppress those two lines from going in the log file.
                      Or is there?

Fantastic...the implied "hint, hint. Wink, Wink" worked!

                          Thanks

Sort of. I actually changed the logging level on these msgs recently, so I am changing them back since they appear to be useless anyways.

the question is Debug, or Detailed level? I have to make them visible at some level. I believe they were originally at Detailed level.

I think Detail would be sufficient. Should not show up normally.

I could also make an argument that it should be under debug in that I do not have the actual device and none of my equipment should be making that "noise".

I understand your dilemma where it could go either. I'd still stick with detail.

                              thanks
