    Is this still supported

I am getting errors when starting up this plugin and I wonder if it is still supported

Are you using Windows 7 by any chance? Did just do a new install? If so did you install the VB6 runtime? What version of HS are you running?
Sorry for all the questions but I do support the plugin as bet I can. My development PC is down and I haven't had a chance to get it fixed yet.

      Hello,

Yes it is a new install on an XP box. What vb6 runtime needs to be installed? I see something about Media encoder and Direct X, but nothing about vb6.

Yes VB6 runtime is also required. There is a download link here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290887

            Also having problems

I am seeing these errors when the plugintrys to run:
            <TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=2 cellPadding=0 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD class=LOGDateTime0 noWrap align=left>1/12/2013 5:19:17 PM </TD><TD class=LOGType0 colSpan=3 align=left>Hauppauge Capture Error </TD><TD class=LOGEntry0 colSpan=8 align=left>An unexpected error occured in the initVideoSettings(30) function/subroutine: [429 - ActiveX component can't create object]</TD></TR><TR><TD class=LOGDateTime1 noWrap align=left>1/12/2013 5:19:17 PM </TD><TD class=LOGType1 colSpan=3 align=left>Hauppauge Capture Error </TD><TD class=LOGEntry1 colSpan=8 align=left>Hauppauge Capture plugin did not detect any installed capture cards</TD></TR><TR><TD class=LOGDateTime0 noWrap align=left>1/12/2013 5:19:17 PM </TD><TD class=LOGType0 colSpan=3 align=left>Hauppauge Capture Error </TD><TD class=LOGEntry0 colSpan=8 align=left>An unexpected error occured in the InitHW(480) function/subroutine: [9 - Subscript out of range]</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

So far I have made sure I have installed VB6 Runtime, DirectX 9C, current drivers for my Hauppague WinTV 38101, and Windows Media Encoder. I am able to see the video when I run Media Encoder so I know the card is working. Windows XP Pro with HomeSeer Pro version 2.5.0.55. Any hints or help would be appreciated.

It sounds like the VideoCapX activeX control is not registered.

              Try these steps:
1 First search for the file VideoCapX.ocx and use that folder for step 4
              2 Shut down HomeSeer
              3 Open a DOS windows
4 Get into the directory from step 1
              5 Type in regsvr32.exe -u videocapx.ocx
6 You should get a popup that says unregister successful
              7 Type in regsvr32.exe videocapx.ocx
8 You should get a popup that says register successful

I found two copies of videocapx.ocx in these directories:
                C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HSPRO\Bin\Hauppauge_Capture
                C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HSPRO\Updates2\Hauppauge Capture4.1.0.2
Both have the same file with the same size and date:
                12/13/2004 09:00 PM 679,936 videocapx.ocx

I tried all 8 steps on the file in the first path and recieved the same errors in the log. Tried again with the file in the second directory and again teh same error. Just to confirm, videocapx.ocx did unregister and register each time.

Here are the new errors in case there is anything else you can gleen from them:

                1/14/2013 8:45:50 PM - Hauppauge Capture - An unexpected error occured in the initVideoSettings(30) function/subroutine: [429 - ActiveX component can't create object]
1/14/2013 8:45:50 PM - Hauppauge Capture - Hauppauge Capture plugin did not detect any installed capture cards
1/14/2013 8:45:50 PM - Hauppauge Capture - An unexpected error occured in the InitHW(480) function/subroutine: [9 - Subscript out of range]

Is there a way to uninstall the plugin then reinstall it?

Thanks in advance for any more help you can provide.

I couldn't find an uninstall for the Hauppague plugin so I tried a fresh install and received similar results. Here are the steps:

                  1. Shutdown HS Pro
                  2. Copy C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HSPRO to a temporary directory.
                  3. Uninstall HS Pro.
                  4. Install a fresh copy of HS Pro
                  5. Use USE HS Pro updater to install Hauppague plugin (also installed UltraM1G plugin).

Below is a copy of the log:

I haven't had much luck in getting dev PC running. Can you send me a copy of the hspi_Hauppauge_Capture.ini file?

There is a [CameraSettings] section in the ini file but there isn't any camera's listed. Do your camera's have the device type set to "xm14a (Ninja X10 Camera)"? There might be a setting for the camera that has been missed. Do you have the camera's assigned to the montion sensors?

Sorry about taking so long to get back top you - we were in Jamaica for the last 2 weeks.
