Turning on lights for "X" seconds

How does one go about telling Alexa via homeseer to turn on a specific lighting device for a certain amount of time?

    Thanks

That is a good question and I would like this as well. I suspect that this command would need to build some event in HS to turn the light OFF after 'X' amount of time. You might need to email support@homeseer.com to see if HS/Alexa supports this.

If you want to use time based features, you have to use the "Tell HomeSeer to" phrase.

      You can say the following:
"Tell HomeSeer to turn on the Overheads for 5 minutes."
      or
"Tell HomeSeer to at 9:30am turn on the Overheads."

I tried the "Tell HomeSeer to turn on the Overheads for 5 seconds." but the the lights came on and stayed on.

Just tried it again and it's still working on my end.

Don't you have to enable the advanced Homeseer Alexa skill for this to work? I only have the basic skill enabled because I wanted to eliminate the constant "Tell Homeseer to" preamble. But if I only have to use that preamble for special things like this then I don't mind.

You are correct. It was an assumption on my part. I tell everyone to enable both so if you need the features they are there. I actually have all 3 enabled because a few of my lights would not show up under the "new" HomeSeer skill.

Where do I find the advanced skill? Is it part of Amazon or Alexa?

                Thanks

Under Skills on alexa.amazon.com. Just search for HomeSeer. 3 Skills should come up.

That is probably why. Which 2 are you seeing?

They are both identical, except that one has 5 ratings, the other has none.

Thats the problem I think. I'm only getting HomeSeer and HomeSeer SmartHome from alexa.amazonco.uk. They seem to be the same software. I guess the 3rd isn't available to European users?
