Looking for quality outdoor motion sensor for remote locations, that are 300 to 600 feet from home.
I'm using DakotaAlert for few years now and I have mixed feelings.
1. The good
- reliable long range transmission (advertised 2500 ft. I'm using it up to 600)
- one receiver serves up to 4 zones (I'm using 2 receivers and 8 sensors)
- simple relay outputs at the receivers allow for easy seamless integration w/HS
2. The bad
- motion detection is really bad
- very short range of motion detection of 10-15 ft.
- misses motion detection even at short range
- battery hog - battery needs replacement every 6 mo. even at my low residential use of 2-3 activations per day
That's why I'm looking for better quality outdoor motion sensors to fit my application - 600' range and better battery life and motion sensing plus relay outputs at the receiver so that I can integrate with HS.
For those who like details I should add that I have currently 8 outdoors motion sensors, 2 receivers and I hook the relay outputs from the receivers to my DSC security panel and from there to HS. HS has very good plug-in for DSC. I'm looking to replace the existing and add more motion sensors. Due to the problems with Dakota, I'm reluctant to keep piling up Dakotas.
