    RR501 + HS3 Setup?

Just switched over to HS3 a few months ago and thought I would add in the RR501 (I use it to capture the remote control signal as a trigger). In HS2, X10 used to be an explicit trigger option. I've searched and searched and can't find a way to set up an X10 device using the Homeseer plugin.

When looking at the logs, my 2413U is capturing the noise as below:

    Aug-22 12:03:41 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Discarding 8 bytes '02 52 66 00 02 52 62 80'
    Aug-22 12:03:41 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Could not process data '02 52 66 00 02 52 62 80'
Aug-22 12:03:41 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Could not read the expected number of bytes from the serial port; Expected=1, Received=0, Timeout=1000ms
    Aug-22 12:03:40 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Skipping 4 bytes to '02 52 66 00 02 52 62 80', discarded '02 52 66 00'
    Aug-22 12:03:40 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Could not process data '02 52 66 00 02 52 62 80'
Aug-22 12:03:40 HSInsteon DEBUG WARNING: Could not read the expected number of bytes from the serial port; Expected=1, Received=0, Timeout=1000ms
    Aug-22 12:03:39 HSInsteon DEBUG RX: 02 52 66 00 02 52 62 80 (appended)
    Aug-22 12:03:37 HSInsteon DEBUG RX: 02 52 66 00

I just can't figure how to create an event based on this. Setting up a generic device with an A1 code (which is what the RR501 is set to) doesn't seem to work. Installing an X10 plugin doesn't make sense as I'm using the Insteon plugin to communicate with the X10 device. Humph...is it not possible?

    Well..

This post by Mark would indicate that the only way to access X10 using an Insteon PLM is using is plugin. I've searched for a way to us VB scripts but I can't find a way for a script to monitor the signal being received by the PLM.

Oh well...looks like I need to buy Mark's plugin.

      I would trial it first.

Also, you may want to consider replacing the RR501 with a receiver that talks directly to your HS system such as the W800 series, especially if you only use X-10 RF devices. You get far better reception and response times with that. You would need a plugin to support it as well, there are 3 that I aware of that can be used (RFXCom, BLRF and SimpleRF). The first two are paid plugins and the third is now free.

      Cheers

Here went to utilizing three WGL W800 devices.

That said too I split the X10 from the Insteon device and went back to using a CM11A, XTB, Volp's dual phased TW523 combination X10 Amp.

This has been a few years back.

I just tested today the sending out and receiving of X10/WGL W800 using a CM11A on a Digi 8 port Edgeport connected to current Homeseer 3 Pro V198 running on Ubuntu 14.04 Linux 64 bit and it is working fine.

I still utilize the little X10 FOB's, palm pad, DM11A's here and they work just fine for me. (lighting is UPB).
