Hello sforeman00. The firmware version 4.3.8 does not support the az command. The firmware version you are running was released on Oct 26, 2005. It is at least 12 versions behind the latest (4.5.20). Have you considered upgrading it?

I didn't realize I was so far behind so after your question I downloaded the latest version that supports the caddx V4.5.20.

Hopefully no problems with that version?

I'm getting the same issue. plugin version 3.0.6267.36391 Firmware 5.3.10.

Originally was on an older firmware and events tied to zone changes were really delayed. looked in the logs and noticed I was getting the "Warning No response/improper response from Elk M1 to command 'az00'" error in the log. Did a quick search and it was suggested to upgrade to the latest firmware. Now that I'm on 5.3.10 I still have the same error in the log and the same delayed event actions.

Is this causing any problems? I think that I have received these errors for a long time and can not determine if there ever were any negative impacts.

If I recall correctly, then I have looked this command up within the ELK manual and determined at that time that it is a undocumented command.

Somehow I came to think that this is not a major issue.

I had never seen these errors before but now I walk into the kitchen and it takes 15min+ for HS to see there is motion and turn the lights on. Seems too much of a coincidence.

Most of the communication between the UltraM1G3 HSPI and the Elk M1 panel is event driven meaning the Elk M1 will send changes as they occur to the plug-in. However, the az00 query is an exception. It's one of the few things that need to be queried via polling. The poll mechanism sends the command to the Elk M1 and waits for the response. If no response is received within 1.5 seconds (default value), then the command is retried 1 more time (default value). Anytime a command sent to the Elk M1 does not produce the expected response, a warning is written to the HomeSeer logs. This is why you could see this particular command time-out on occasion.

If you are seeing a time-out error in your log more than a few times per day, then it's an issue needing to be investigated. In my experience, the cause for this timeout is:
                            • Network packet loss between HomeSeer and the Elk M1 XEP.
                            • Bad serial cable between Elk M1 and Elk M1 XEP.
                            • Bad network cable.

To test packet loss from HomeSeer to the Elk M1 XEP, then simply connect to your HomeSeer system and run the command:

                            ping -n 1000

The results of this command should show 0% packet loss.

                            Regards,

So I pinged the M1XEP from my HS machine. The results were 100% packet transmission (no loss) with an average time of 0ms, 999 were less than 1ms, one was 12ms.

It seems the network side is working perfectly. The setup has been untouched for a couple of years. Only the firmware and plugin have changed over this period.

I do have have Elk C-bus interface (Rev 3) connected. I wonder if other people seeing this error have any lighting interfaces connected.
