Trouble adding 2nd Z-Net as a Secondary Controller

I have two Z-Nets, one is Primary the other Secondary.

I followed the documentation, but I am unable to set my 2nd Z-Net to an Inclusion Controller (Secondary) because that option is not available in the dropdown menu:

    I'm running the 3.0.1.25 Z-wave plugin and .199 HS3 Pro.

    Here are the relevant logs:

Definitely not an expert, but for some reason I was thinking that secondary controllers cannot be inclusion controllers? I.e., only your primary can be used to include new nodes.

What does your Z-Wave Controller page look like? Have 3 Z-Nets in my network - Living room is the Main and Hallway and Laundry are Secondary Inclusion controllers

I've just added a second z-net to my network and its up and running ok. However I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set it up as a secondary controller.

I've tried the drop down listbox in Actions to send the network info. to another controller and make it primary - but then I cannot select the other z-net interface and Receive info from another controller (the usual start button never appears like it normally would)...

Am I doing something wrong... is there documentation on this process somewhere? I couldn't find anything.

LCrawford, I'm about to add a secondary controller. Did you ever find any documentation?

I did not, currently running the 2nd one as an independant unit which works fine but I figure im missing out on some features that might make life simplier for me...

              Can you explain the difference?

If you have 3 z-wave devices how does primary and secondary work?

              Thanks,

Surely someone can help us with this. There are 3 postings here and others elsewhere asking the same question: "How do you set up a secondary controller?" When I initialized mine, there were no options that I saw and it came to life as another primary controller on another network. I see that Kaldoon below managed to set his up as secondary...how is that done? It would be nice if Homeseer would offer some instruction here...

I found this and am posting it before testing again. The first time I tried this, it did not work.

Adding to an existing NetworkThis procedure assumes that you have already added at least one Z‐Wave interface.Use this procedure if you are having issues communicating with devices that are far from the Z‐Wave interface. Plan on installing a second interface atthe far location in order to communicate with the remote devices. To add another Z‐Wave interface to the existing network:Select the PLUG‐INS menu, then Z‐Wave, then Controller Management. On the page click the Add Interface button, fill in the proper information thenclick Add. Click the icon to enable the interface. If no errors are detected, the interface has been started is now on its own network. The interfacenow needs to have access to all your devices and be added to the existing network. Select Make this interface an Incluseion Controller ﴾Secondar﴿ onanother Network. This will copy all information from the MAIN interface to this newly added one. This includes all node information and Home ID.This new interface now becomes what is called a "SIS" and can control all of the same devices as the main controller as well as include new devices. When a new device is included, it is automatically added to all of the other controllers in the system.

OK, here are the results. First try to make secondary ran 9 minutes without concluding (whirling progress marker); I finally closed out with errors. I let a second effort run over an hour (whirling progress marker) until I bailed. However, it seemed to have set up the interface. I then assigned it to my primary network and it reports that it worked.

So if I have a large house (long single story) and then a large detached garage/guest house (around 40 to 50ft from the house). I also have alot of GE switches that work as instant status only if they are direct to the controller.

Whats the ideal plan? I was thinking of putting the HS sever with a smartstick+ on one end of the house a Z-net at the other end and a Z-net out in the garage

But a little confused between the different ways to add the z-wave controllers.

I would do exactly as you suggest, but make sure that each of the 3 Z-Wave controllers is added as a primary controller and looks after its own set of devices. You'd end up with 3 smaller z-wave networks with local devices on a direct connection to support the GE 'instant status'.

Yup; related to Z-Wave controllers you can only have autonomous primary controllers each with their own Z-Wave devices

                            or

                            one primary and multiple secondary's

                            or

sets of autonmous primary's with their own secondary's.

Many folks utilize Z-wave devices as Z-Wave repeaters to extend networks too.

Here though I do not utilize status of my automated lighting to trigger events. That is me and here and UPB lighting stuff. A few years back did utilize the follow me after hours using occupancy (wired) stuff and it was very low on the WAF such that it is off these days.

Has anyone figured out how to get the option

"Make this interface an Inclusion Controller (secondary) on another network"

to be available in the controller down menu. I would prefer to add a secondary controller so that the 12 or so nodes that it will control do not have to be excluded from the primary and then included in a new network. This would break all events associated with the devices and really not add any benefit as opposed to making it a SIS controller.

I have tried erasing the Z-Net2 controller first, no luck.

There are several threads about this, but no answers. The option is simply not there on either interface. In addition, when I restart HomeSeer the new interface I added shows as the Primary, even though it is still blank.

In the screenshots below, Z-Net1 is my current primary controller, Z-Net2 is the one I would like to add as an SIS controller. After restarting HomeSeer the "Z-Wave Networks and Options" group at the top now shows Z-Net2 as the primary, even though it has no node information in it. Z-Net1 is still controlling the network and functioning properly. The option to add a SIS controller is not under either interface.
