You may want to send a quick email to iAutomate on this as it's not listed as a supported OS.

          USB Controller

In developing the RFID plugin on the Mac Platform, we learned something interesting that translates to the Windows platform as well when using a USB to Serial Adaptor.

Some USB ports are shared with USB Controllers.

Because timing is important when polling the RFID readers and parsing the data (realtime data all the time), it is advisable to make certain that the USB to Serial adaptor is not on a USB Controller that is shared with other devices. For best performance, the USB to Serial Adaptor should be the only device on that respective USB Controller.

Of course, this varies from machine to machine, and between versions of Operating System.

One way to determine if a USB Port is shared is to open Device Manager, Select View>>"Devices by Connection", then begin expanding the ACPI resources, then Expand the PCI Bus resources to view the USB Host controllers.

We suggest moving a USB to serial adaptor so that is is exclusive on a USB controller.
