Failed getting InterfaceStatus from Kinect

I see this message in the plugin manage page:

WARNING: Failed getting InterfaceStatus from Kinect - the interface was not found in the list of active interfaces, the list may need to be refreshed.

When I try to open the configuration page for my one and only Kinect instance I see this error in the log:

Error Getting web page from plugin page kinectconfig:Livingroom:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I can't load the page so I can't turn on debug logging. Everything seems to be working fine though. This all started when I disabled the instance and then re enabled it. It wouldn't start up and I had to restart HS3.

disable your kinect instance in HS, then kill any HSPI_Kinect.exe process from task manager.

you can also try to power cycle your Kinect, sometimes it gets stuck.

to manually set the log level to debug set the following lines in Kinect.ini (or Kinect_Livingroom.ini)

[GENERAL]
log_level=Debug
