    Loses Information

    Hey Guys,

I have a CurrentCost Envi kit that has been working stand alone for some time with no issues. Today, I connected it to Homeseer via a USB connection right into a Hometroller and the Envi display stops showing the energy usage. It is also NOT passing it to HS.

    What could this be?

I have restarted the interface in HS and have done power cycles before as well and it has not cured it. If I remove the data cable from the USB port in the Hometroller, the display instantly comes back and shows usage.

Yes, Sir. The display on the Envi actually stops showing usage information as well so it seems to be interface related. When I unplug the data cable from the back of the Envi, it works just fine. As soon as I plug in the cable, it drops.

Yes, I am. It is a white cable with an RJ45 on one end and a black USB on the other. It is going into the COM9 USB port on the hometroller.

Almost sounds like something has gone bad in the hardware, have you tried it in another computer?

You can test whether data is being received to the PC by opening the port in hyperterminal with the baud rate of 57600. If you start receiving data then it is going to be hardware related.

Ok, I shut down homeseer and then I opened up a terminal to port 9 (the USB port it is connected to) and got this info from the terminal:

That is all typical output (it is part of the bi hourly history data), do you get any errors in the HS log when you start it up, errors with the COM port opening etc?

and the devices in HS still do not populate?

The data does output history data every two hours and there is only the odd instant data output in and amongst this output so whilst this download is going on the data might not update as often as it does normally.

The data has not updated since yesterday. The odd thing is that when connected to the data cable, the display does not show information on usage. I unplug it and the envi display shows usage.

So far, no information is being generated from the HS log or the HS in general from the device.

I am at a loss really, if the data is coming into the HS PC (which hyperterminal does prove) then something must be wrong with the data getting into HS but why it would do this is anyones guess. I think the HS CC plugin has a debug option, have you tried to enable this to see what data goes into the log?

Yes, it does have a debug in the Config portion of the Setup section in Interfaces but, nothing is passing to the log in HS. Is there another log somewhere?

Going to try to reinstall the plug...

Don't know about a second log, I thought that the main HS log filled with data when you enabled this option. I really don't know what is happening as it should on the face of it work OK.

                              Thanks for the help though..

How do I get the CCEnvi devices back?
