    Insteon Devices missing after re-boot

This is the 2nd time this has happened since I installed the plug-in two months ago. The system re-booted and HS3 came back up and all the Insteon devices are missing. There are no errors in the HS3 log except the following:

Is there any way I can restore the previous configuration? My last backup was taken on 6/1.

I did create a support log where it appears the devices were deleted by the plug-in initialization.

you will need to restore from a backup (specifically the insteon.ini and homeseer database). you might be able to use a more current homeseer database found in the homeseer Data folder with your latest insteon.ini

please update the plugin to the latest found in the Beta section of the Updater. there is a event trigger and action that will create backups of the insteon.ini when you make changes to the plugin.

      HS3 v 318, Insteon 3.0.6.0 Win 7 64 bit
Yesterday Windows shut down "unexpectedly" and restarted.
HS3 restarted Ok except for Insteon, which lost all configuration.
Luckily I had a recent backup, so easily repaired.
But I'm worried: this never happened before, I'm using Insteon for over a year and it has been rock-solid.
Has anything changed in recent HS updates that affects Insteon?

there is definitely something going on with HS3 and ini files.

        Using v3.0.6.0,

Please create a new event using the insteon configuration change trigger and backup configuration action to get the plugin to backup the ini whenever the insteon config changes

you can use this trigger and event in an combination you want to make sure the insteon.ini is backed up according to your needs.

Please verify that there is at least insteon1.ini in the config folder after you make a configuration change within the plugin.

the plugin will keep up to 5 backups: insteon5.ini will be the last, and then the plugin will recycle back to insteon1.ini. So you will need to look at the file date to determine the most recent.

Hi Mark, I figured I'd post here instead of making a new thread.

I just returned from a vacation and noticed that lots of lights were still on instead of being turned off, and it turns out that somehow the plug-in crashed and the Insteon.ini is empty (the COM port was lost and all devices are gone in the 'Manage Devices' page).

My earliest backup on June 14th also has an empty Insteon.ini

Is there any way to restore all the devices without recreating them all? I have around 50 Insteon devices in my home.

              Thanks!

you need to find an insteon.ini. Look in an insteon error report.log file.

there would be a copy of the insteon.ini at the bottom starting with the line [config]

copy from there to the end to an insteon.ini file

That worked great! I'm glad I don't have to manually add each device again.

It turns out the PSU in my HS server failed and will probably need to be replaced soon.

                  Thanks!
