Sorry, somehow I accidentally posted this to the wrong forum. Excuse me if this has already been duscussed, but is there a way to monitor my pool with HS and possiblly 1-wire units for Ph levels and other pool related measurements, so that I could then find some automated chemical dispensers, and finally get control of my pool?

This has been discussed in the past and a quick search on pool automation will give you many ideas of how others have progressed. Jandy seems to be the name in pool automation.
