First off Spud, thank you for all your development to the HomeSeer platform.

This plugin in particular is so valuable. It is allowing me to watch the playstate of the Chromecast device and turn/off an amplifier as a result.

It's working well but this morning when I awoke, the plugin didn't seem to be connected to any of the Chromecast devices in my house. Changes to playstate, playlist, volume, etc were not being reflected in HomeSeer devices and hence events not triggering.

I tried disabling/re-enabling the plugin, but ultimately I emptied out the Chromecast.ini file and rediscovered all the devices. It seems to be working again but I'm not sure what caused it to loose its connection.

I will post again if this happens again. Would appreciate any suggestions if you have any.

    Sincerely,

    Ben

P.S. Thought I would add that the "root" device for all my chromecasts are "disocnnected". I'm not sure why that is or if that may explain the above behaviour. That state persists even after reinstalling the plugin.

I have downloaded the beta, and have been looking for a way to change sources on my TV when the Chromecast that is connected to the TV is playing. This does this nicely (in combination with the Global Cache hardware and plugin)

Is there any way to pull the information of what device is doing the casting? For instance I may not want any device that is casting to initiate the source change on the TV. I am not sure if this information is available, however if it is and the plugin created an additional device with the value (for instance my phone), I could use that in the event as a condition

          I don't think that's possible.

according to these logs, Bonjour (or Avahi on Linux) told the plugin the chromecasts went offline and were back online a few seconds later. This kind of things can happen for various reason, but there is nothing wrong here, the plugin seem to have reconnected successfully.

if you experience a problem after such a disconnection/reconnection please set the log level to debug and post them next time the problem appears.

OK, But if the Chromecast is streaming from a radiostation, the streaming stopped, and we have to restart it.

                Hi spud,

Is it possible to tell a Chromecast device to stream a particular source, like a Spotify playlist or online m3u file issuing this plugin?

                Thanks,

                Ben

Not possible for a spotify playlist
For an online m3u, I haven't tested, it may or may not work. Try to create a Cast Media action from an event and set the m3u url as the media url. Let me know the result.

I also see these disconnects on a regular basis. I wonder if it could be related to this Google bug ... https://9to5google.com/2018/01/15/go...e-wifi-outage/

Occasionally, the GH/CC device may also disconnect and not reconnect without a router reboot.

Are your Chromecasts wired or WiFi connected. Wired Chromecasts are always more reliable, particularly if you have a dozen or so...

                        Hi spud,

                        Thanks for the info.

It works, sort of. I am trying to stream Radio Paradise. They list both m3u playlists and "direct server links". The m3u links (eg. http://radioparadise.com/m3u/mp3-128.m3u) do not work. However, for the direct server links (eg. http://stream-tx1.radioparadise.com/mp3-128) it does work, but I have to execute the Cast Media action twice. On the first occasion I hear chimes from the Chromecast and "Application" in device list changes from "None" to "Default Media Receiver". When I execute the action again, the stream starts playing after a brief period of buffering. I do not get any metadata.

Also, for anyone interested, I've found a way to stream Spotify playlists to a Chromecast device without using the spotify app. If you install Logitech Media Server (aka squeezebox server) with the Chromecast Bridge and Spotty plugins, you can stream anything of your choosing to the CC device.

                        Sincerely,

                        Ben

edit Config/Chromecast.ini, and in the [CHROMECASTS] section delete all the lines that starts with the ids of the inactive google homes, then restart the plugin.
