    Hmmm....

I bought the Quirky Refuel (The grill propane tank monitor). Have not been able to get it to connect to my Wi-Fi. Perhaps this is why there are issues.

      Scratch that!

Just about to pack it up and bring it back so I gave it one more shot. It connected. Doesn't really do much other than show a cheap graphic and is supposed to notify when the level reaches 1/8th of a tank. Wish that was configurable......

I have it connected. Been to busy to grill so I can't tell you that it works yet. It does seem to register the correct level. ...or at least it measures the same as my neighbors gauge I borrowed to test it.....

The sale ends in a few days at Home Depot...... I think the price goes back up to $49.99. ....if they still carry them after this.

              Outbackrob,
Can you tell me if you think that it would be possible to monitor 2 tanks (with 2 Refuel of course) or does the app seem to only be able to track one. I picked one up myself today but won't have time to play with it for several days. But I would have the need to monitor a second tank if at all possible

the app seems to have the capability to add more than one refuel and even rename them.

Wink has an api http://docs.wink.apiary.io/ just wish i knew what to do with it.

                  Thanks Raptor,
I may get another one just for the fun of it.

As a reply of what to do with it?
Seems like it at least sends emails when the tank is 1/8 low. So maybe sending an email to your Home Automation account and trigger a notification based on the subject line.
It also seems like it uses HTTP verbs, so maybe someone with better talent can write a script that can be polled on a daily basis.

Still a cool toy if it works.

Yea that is not a bad idea.

email triggers might be the way to go.

Will the Quirky Refuel work stand alone or do you need a hub or some type?

                              It works stand alone.

you can also use is as local only using the LEDs on the unit, no wifi needed if you just use that.

Wifi connections allow it to work with the WINK app WITHOUT the need for the HUB. Which is great because i want homeseer not wink.
