    XTB-523

    Anyone using an XTB-523 for their x10 interface? I want to make sure it works well with HS2 before I buy it.

    hs3?

    I'm still just using TI-103 and my x10 appears to be 100%... however I'm still switching to z-wave on most...

      I think you would need an interface for it. (Ocelot? HAI?) I do not believe it will work with the X10 plug-in.

      I'm using the XTB-232. It emulates the CM11A and works very will with HS2 and HS3.

        The XTB-523 is a replacement for the discontinued TW523/PSC05 by X10. This is needed for devices that have a serial interface that was designed to connect to X10 systems through the TW523 or PSC05 interfaces. Knowing the XTB designer this device probably perfectly emulates the devices it was designed to replace.

        Since this device is not a Homeseer device it does not need a plugin. All it does is connect to a hardware device that needs a TW523 or PSC05 and transforms that devices serial signal safely into X10 powerline signals.

        The XTB-523 is not an X10 interface for Homeseer. If you need that then you want the XTB-232 which fully emulates the CM11A and works with the Homeseer plugin. Just tell the plugin you have a CM11A.

        Just for clarity, the XTB-232, CM11A and TI-103 are connected to the Homeseer computer, use the X10 plugin, and allow Homeseer to send or receive X10 commands on the power line. The XTB-523, TW523 and PSC05 are connected to a single device and allow that device to send or receive X10 commands on the power line. They are compatible with the Homeseer X10 plugin because they appear to Homeseer as regular X10 devices.

        I have several different XTB products. All of them are solid, well designed and high quality. -Rick

          Thanks, that's what I needed to know.

            Good news Dick!

            Here continue to utilize a CM11A and TW-523 and Jeff Volp's XTB original amplifier and Jeff Volp's XTBIIR dual phase TW-523.

            Only the CM11A or equivalent TI-103 directly connects to Homeseer 3 serial ports (or USB).

            The TW-523 works only with the Ocelot plugin to Homeseer 3.

            IE:

            Homeseer3 ==> X10 plugin ==> serial ==> CM11A or TI103 Jeff Volp's XTB-232

            Homeseer 3 ==> Ocelot plugin ==> serial ==> Ocelot with a connected TW-523 or Volp equivalent.

            BTW Jeff Volpe will answer any emails sent to him and also knows all of the above relating to connectivity to Homeseer 3 plugins.

            Best to look here for Jeff Volp X10 wares ==> JV Digital Engineering

              Pete - Note: I was asking about HS2, not HS3. I'm on HS2 and will not be upgrading, even though I have a license. I have too many custom scripts and plug-ins that do/will not work with HS3.

                Understood. It is the same for Homeseer 2.

                Homeseer2 ==> X10 plugin ==> serial ==> CM11A or TI103 Jeff Volp's XTB-232 or a combo of the CM11A plus XTB amplifier (legacy)

                Note too that there were issues with the CM11A Homeseer 2 plugin documented here on the forum. The plugin worked 99.9% just fine.

                Homeseer 2 ==> Ocelot plugin ==> serial ==> Ocelot with a connected TW-523 or Volp equivalent.

                Initially purchased XTB amplifier for CM11A and dual phased TW-523 Volp emulator plus configuration with OmniPro 2 combo panel.

                Today for my Christmas lighting utilize X10 after testing Insteon, UPB and ZWave over the years.

                Use old light / appliance modules indoors and old Black and Decker Freewire outdoor modules for outside stuff.

                Fast and easy and works 100% of the time with all devices set to one house code and test outside with an old palm pad / WGL W800.
