    Z-Wave Error, unknown status...

I have a GoControl Appliance module (shows as Nortek Switch) that has been giving me an error ever since switching from my SmartStick+ to a new Z-Net Controller. The error is:
Jun-05 4:20:56 PM Z-Wave Error Failed sending Z-Wave command to device: 6-Z-Wave_7 Master BR Nortek Switch Binary

The switch does go on or off as commanded, but I always get this error, whether the command is issued from the interface or an event and the status shows as unknown. When I test the connectivity, it says it failed to reach the node. If thats the case, its hard to understand why it goes on/off. As mentioned, I didnt see this error with my SmartStick. Suggestions?

    Thanks
    Gary

I think Z-wave nodes send an acknowledge response after receiving and acting on a command.

    IE:

Controller sends "on" command to node.

    Node recieves on command.

    Node switches on.

Node sends acknowledge response with updated status "On".

Purely guessing here but perhaps the node is recieving the command, acting, and sending it's response. But the controller isn't hearing the response due to antenna or RF issues? This would fit somewhat with the changed USB stick.

Have you tried moving the switch close to the controller?

Have you run a full optimise to confirm return route?

The switch is MUCH closer now than the Smartstick was. Plus, it seems to turn on/off ok. I have other Z-Wave devices further away and they seem to do fine.

Have you run a full optimise to confirm return route?
Yes, I did at least a couple times after removing the Smartstick and installing the Z-Net. Just to be sure I did another today. It did produce an error in the log that points to a problem with the switch:

I guess the switch could be bad, but it is new and it did work fine for a couple months. In any case, I would like some authoritative guidance on the error and/or further troubleshooting before judging it defective.

      Thoughts, anybody?

At HS support desk suggestion, what worked for me was upgrading to the latest (at that time) versions of HS3 and the Z-Wave plugin. Specifically:

            Current Date/Time: 7/5/2018 12:58:19 PM
HomeSeer Version: HS3 Pro Edition 3.0.0.445
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro - Work Station
System Uptime: 15 Days 0 Hours 58 Minutes 34 Seconds
            IP Address: 192.168.1.83
            Number of Devices: 262
            Number of Events: 91
            Available Threads: 800
            HSTouch Enabled: True
            Event Threads: 0

Event Trigger Priority Eval Queue: 0
            Device Exec Queue: 0
            HSTouch Event Queue: 0
            Email Send Queue: 0
            Anti Virus Installed: Windows Defender

            Enabled Plug-Ins
            2.0.57.0: BLBackup
            2.0.62.0: BLOnkyo
            2.18.1.0: MCSSPRINKLERSP
            30.0.0.36: RFXCOM
            3.0.6551.16959: UltraGCIR3
            3.0.0.40: X10
            3.0.1.218: Z-Wave

I then deleted the switch and re-added it successfully.

I've just did the same, but still getting the same error:
              Plugin reports error getting status.

Will try to play more, but nothing obvious.

Your errors are somewhat different that mine. All zwave commands were executed properly. I was getting an error regarding the return path which resulted in not getting/setting the device status (i.e. shown as unknown). FWIW. Have you contacted HS support?
