The way that I know is create a virtual switch with a voice command which is watched by an event that would say the the temp to google home thru the chromecast plugin. No the command for Google home is going to be turn on "living room temp" or whatever ya make the keyword. What I do to get around this is setup a shortcut on the google home so I can say ok google whats the temp in living room this actually does a turn on living room temp which triggers the event to say the temp. Not sure about how to do the set temp. I have a ecobee so its all built in.

Thanks. HS inspires creativity. Doesn't it.

It is happening again today. My HS wouldn't update GH. This time I'm getting this error message after waiting 30-40 sec.
        "Something went wrong. Try again"
I tried several times during the day today and late night as well to no avail. Always the same error message.

Last sync with GH (that is gone now) had 145 HS3 devices linked to GH. I've added more of course. Is it possible that I have too many devices?

It could be a legit issue. One thing I might suggest is to uncheck voice for those new devices and see if it will sync -- Just a shot

I was originally thinking that this could be done by just setting the ControlUse in the status tab. However, after reading a bit more, I think that it would probably need to be done as a plugin. Maybe there would be a way to fake it out a bit by careful settings in the device type on the devices, but would at least require script to make some of the device changes because they are not settable through the UI. Maybe an easier way would be to create a real thermostat (whatever type) and then just set the values through events. All of this would take some experimentation.

I mean Thermostats that were not made GH compatible by the OEM manufacturer.
I have 6 wireless sensors integrated in my HS3 that report the temperature in 6 areas of the house to HS3 devices. I also have number of HS3 controlled relays that turn on/off HVAC accordingly. I also have 6 HS3 devices that hold the set point temperature. All controlled by GUI designed in HSTouch.

The question is how do I get GH answering this question

"OK Google, what is the temperature in the Living Room?"

furthermore, how do I get Google executing commands like that

"OK Google set thermostat to 72 degrees in the Living Room"

            Thanks,

              Having the issue again

Had to unlink my HS account with Home and now can't relink. I get the myhs web page to log in and it says "linking your homeseer account" and then tells me "couldn't update the setting. Check your connection"

Connection is fine. I've tried over and over on wifi and LTE. No good.

So I spent the past 6 hours trying to figure out how all of this works. Wow... what a trial. But the good news is I figured out why this is happening.

I just setup HS3 a few days ago, just purchased a Google Home and Home Mini, and wanted to get it all going after bailing from Vera.

Good news, is the HS3 was super simple to setup. Stuff is so much easier than I'm used to.

And getting the initial Google Home connection working was also a piece of cake... that is until I started getting the issue everyone else is seeing where you try to link from Google Home to MyHS. It was say linked, but there weren't any devices listed. I tried everything to get it working again - resetting the Google home devices to factory settings, Upgrading to the beta version of HS3, restarting HS3 and many combinations. Nothing seemed to work. But then it dawned on me... maybe this is a problem with it "remembering what was out there the time before".

So I selected the box at the top that selects all devices in HS3. Then dropped down the selection box and said "Disable Voice".

Here's the key. YOU NEED to sync up with Google Home with NOTHING selected. It will do the normal "no devices" in google home, but will say it's linked.

Then select the devices you really wish to control via voice by checking the boxes by them. Drop the selection box down in HS3 and choose "Enable Voice"

Sync once again from Google Home on your phone, and you should now have all the of the devices you selected in HS3.

I've done it MANY times since then, and it seems to always work as long as you clear out everything first and resync.

I'm now trying to figure out how to control multiple lights in a room. I think I've figure out to say "Ok, Google, turn off ALL Living Room" and it will turn off all the living room lights. Or turn on ALL Dining Room turns on all dining room lights.

I've setup "fake" devices that you can turn on and off via Google and then setup an event that watches for that device to turn on. That event can then run a series of device controls or whatever you like.

It's taken me a few days, but things are looking up. Hopefully this helps someone else out there!!!

If there are any other Google Home command ideas or clarifications, please let me know.

I was fairly sure that in the many hours I've spent unsuccessfully trying to get my GH mini to control my HS devices, I had already tried your sequence of operations - I really was hoping that your suggestion would work for me.......... but no - as always, none of my HS voice-enabled devices are seen by GH.

In my case, I am convinced that despite the app telling me "accounts are linked", when I give my MyHS details - they never really are linked. It might be helpful if the HS syslog was a bit more informative. I'd really expect an entry to confirm this linking - but there is none.

If I tell GH "sync devices" it replies "sorry syncing is unavailable for Assistant"

If I telll it "sync Homeseer" it replies "please relink your account to enable this feature for Homeseer"

I have been online with GH support, and they tell me that this issue has been reported by several users and that their higher level support people are working on it, and that a solution should be forthcoming soon...........

Yeah, there are literally hundreds of complaints about home control not working properly on the Google forums. Supposedly they are working on a solution

GH support just called me back and asked me to try some commands with Assistant and my feedback from that appears to confirm the "bug" they are working on. We shall see!

I still can't add Homeseer as a provider but my Nest and Wink accounts are showing up. Only have three or four devices from those though unfortunately.

Still tells me "Couldn't update the setting. Check your connection" when I attempt to add Homeseer. That's after doing a full reset on my Home and Mini.

Went ahead and disabled voice for a ton of devices. Added Homeseer successfully and re-enabled voice for the ones that I had disabled. Told Google Home to sync and this is what I get from Assistant:

Try disabling voice command from all of your devices and then enable it on a light device and try again. You can disable all voice commands by using the drop down under device list so you do not have to manually do this for all devices.

So I got everything re linked but its lost connection two or three times since then. Its gotten easier to relink but then I have to assign rooms and everything again which is a pain.
