no speech

New install of hspro, new pc running xp-pro and when speaker app loads I get "error initializing voice recognition,probably not installed... "when I go to control panel and try to open "speech" it appears nothing there, I did install Office standard 2007, I thought speech might be part of office, HELP

The Speech application comes with the operating system so it sounds like it's time for an OS repair. According to this articlet "Windows XP does not support speech recognition in 2007 Microsoft Office programs."
