How high can a device code on X10 can go?

Asking the question for a x10 motion sensor...

    I believe it is 16.

The X10 power line control system has 256 addresses; 16 house codes times 16 unit codes. I believe the wireless X10 world lives with the same constraint, primarily because it was designed assuming the wireless signals would be transferred to the power line at some point.

Oman (Jon Ort) allowed the unit codes to be larger than 16 in his ACRF2 plug-in, but still restricted them to 16 sequential values. I do not believe any of the HS3 wireless X10 plug-ins have replicated that feature, though.

For X10 you have UNIT Codes that are from 1 to 16. The HOUSE Codes are from A to P. So a number 17 would be an illegal selection.

          Hope this helps.
