    Minimum RFXCom Device

I am going to breakdown and go ahead and get the RFXCom receiver.

I wanted to confirm that the $150 unit - this one:
    http://www.cheapertronics.com/produc...=64&item_id=23

is all that is needed to receive Oregon scientific sensors.

Do I need the one with the Com port for $235?

    Thanks,
    W

Yes, you can receive OS sensors with that USB receiver.

The COM ports mentioned on the web site are used internal in the interfaces and by the COM Port Redirector software. This is not a COM port that can be used to connect a serial device. For this you need the RS232 Serial Interface Module. This module can be connected to the internal COM port.
These modules can be connected to the internal COM port:
    - OR 1 transmitter module
    - OR 1 RS232 Serial Interface modules.
    - OR 1 or 2 receiver modules
    - for example:
    - - a 433.92 X10-Oregon and a 310MHz US X10
    - - or a 433.92 X10-Oregon and a 315MHz Visonic/SecureLinc

The 2 COM port LAN/WLAN versions (only available at RFXCOM) are mainly used in Europe to have also an RF transmitter available to control HomeEasy, KlikAanKlikUit and Harrison.
The 2 COM port LAN/WLAN versions can have installed:
In COM port 1: 1 or 2 receivers
AND in COM port 2: an RF transmitter or an RS232 Serial interface module.

      Bert,

Thanks! That is a helpful description! The USB connection is perfect as that's what I prefer to use on my HS computer anyway.

Now to determine which driver RFX or ACRF.....

      Thanks again,
      W
