    Question about Plugin

    Can I:

Install the Kinect on a W81 PC and run the plugin talking to Homeseer 3 on Linux or does the HS3 box need to be running the Kinect Wintel drivers too?

this should work but I have never tested this particular configuration

the kinect drivers don't need to be installed on the linux box
but you still need to install the kinect plugin on your linux box because HS3 needs to retrieve some license info from it before the plugin can be run remotely.

as the kinect plugin is not in the linux updater, you need to install it manually following the instructions in this post: http://board.homeseer.com/showthread...18#post1082218

DON'T start the plugin on the Linux box, then restart HS3, the Kinect plugin should appear in your "installed plugins" in the interfaces page.

then you should be able to install and run the plugin remotely as explained at the end of the user guide: http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=162315

let me know if you have any problem

        Hi Pete,

I have been doing something similar, although my HS3 box is windows.

That is, I have been testing the kinect connected to a remote Win 8.1 box and it connects fine to the HS3 box that has had the plugin installed but left disabled.

          Thank you JimBob.

Yup; here have never utilized a Kinect such that this stuff is brand new to me.
