That's a good idea, the ones I looked at were over $100 each. I will be using a Ubiquiti POE switch with my network so those would work well.

I used one of these in my house to supplement my non-POE Netgear switch. I have found that POE switches are really loud due to the fans. This thing is dead quiet:

This is actually how I found this company and that microUSB to POE adapter.

I use one of their other products:

So far so good. I got it because I didn't need a full POE switch and I keep it in one of my Leviton structured media cans. The switch in there is cool enough and narrow enough while giving me trunking and some other advanced features. I don't think I could have gotten that in a POE switch (though they have a POE version of my switch, I was worried about heat mainly in a partially sealed can).

This gave me the ability to have POE with a very small footprint.

Those look pretty good. I've heard the same thing about the switches being noisy but my media/network/automation will be in a room in the basement so I think the noise won't be a factor. I like the Ubiquiti unified switches due to they can do IEEE 802.3af/802.3at poe+ and passive 24v Poe on any port. That way I'm covered if I used ptz cameras, access points, the devices you mentioned before and everything in between.
Of course putting everything on one switch maybe a single point failure but I like to be optimistic haha.

Funny enough, the back piece of the frame was already constructed, I just simply purchased it from Hobby Lobby. Then, I purchased some scrap barnwood from there as well, mitered the corners, and glued it all together. Nothing is stained at all, its very rough and meant to look distressed.

If I need to turn on the screen of the nexus manually, I can simply double tap the screen and it turns on (this is built into Android). But, its rare that I need to because I'm using an app called "Motion Detector" that turns on the screen when it detects motion.
Which Motion Detector program are you using? There is quite a few on Google Play.
