    How does this thing work?

I'm new to HS - in fact my S6 Pro is still on the way.

I've got an Onkyo 708A which is connected to my home network with an Ethernet cable. The S6 will be plugged in to the network as well.

Does the S6 and HS3 and this plugin talk directly to the Onkyo directly thru the LAN? I didn't know the receiver was able to be "remote controlled" thru the Ethernet connection.

yes last time I tested BLOnkyo I just installed the plugin and I think you gave it the IP....

forgive me if im wrong on that but I do know you do not need to plug anything in specifically from the HS box to the receiver...

The receiver needs to be plugged into your router so the plugin can access the ip and port

Well, it's plugged in to a switch in the living room, and the switch is plugged in to the router in the basement. Is that close enough?

so now you have to make sure they can see each other... ip addresses..

from a computer you should be able to PING each device...
then you know they are good
