    SMS Options?

    Guys

I need to integrate SMS - inbound and outbound - what is my best option?

The plugins around all seem to be quite old....

      Hi

Thanks for the reply...very much appreciated.

I would appreciate the script if I may...will PM you my email address.

At least your approach removes any hardware issues which is nice!

For outbound, at least in US, you can send an email to the carrier and it will be sent to the phone as SMS. For example: 9876543210@messaging.att.net. I assume there is a similar option by your carrier.

I think most UK carriers never offered this as there was money to be made with companies offering gateway services and no doubt the provider got their share somewhere down the line. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SMS_gateways has some options, looks like Orange have one, O2 don't, T-Mobile don't, 3 are not mentioned but Google says they do not support it either.
