    Fancy Sprinkler

I've read most of the sprinkler post

I want to install one of the newer systems with wifi capabilities

Can you share your experience with some of these latest models?

I''m interested in the compatibly with an hs3 plug in

I use mcsSprinklers with WGL Rain8Net valve controllers. mcsSprinklers provides me WiFi connectivity (since it runs on a PC) and also integrates with HS. It monitors the weather and can adjust water cycles (by zone) based on evaporation rate, soil wetness, rain actual and rain forecast. It works extremely well and the support is excellent. Take a look at the mcsSprinklersPro software. It's available as stand-alone or HS plug-in.
Can you say more about what capabilities you want your system to have?

I'm just getting into options that sprinklers have. My short list of items

Not worried about cost of controller like features and add-ons
Wifi capable don't want to hard wire
HS3 Plug in would be great and ability to control thru separate iPad app
      Want moisture sensors
Ability to gather weather information from internet
sprinkler controller to have lightning protection

I was hoping folks would share their experiences with some of the newer sprinkler controllers

Can you be more specific about this one? Most controllers require a wire to each zone valve from a corresponding relay in the controller. Are you looking for a way to avoid that requirement or are you looking for a way to interact with the controller using a wireless connection?

I'm not familiar with all the latest controllers, but from what I've seen, they haven't changed much on the back end. Most of the 'new' stuff like Rachio or Skydrop or Blossom involves the user interface. Can you provide some examples of controllers you are considering? How many zones do you need to control?

Given all the bells and whistles these controllers come with, what capabilities are you expecting a HS plug-in to provide?

I have been looking at Rachio, Skydrop & Blossom. I like these with WiFi capability. I will have to study the comment about the "open sprinkler" plugin.

I would like my phone to act as a remote controller for testing and HS3 to interface with a controller

I like that you can set up programs in the controller, and it will run on its own even if something happens and your HS stops. But with the plugin you can run the programs or any of the valves from HS, and yes it has a pretty nice mobile app.
