Help with event notifications and variables?

Hi,

Is it possible to have variables in an Event?

I'm looking to have my event run a script, and then pass variables to that script on what the event change was

For example if the console shows this for my thermostat:

07:52:35:2606:[Z-Wave]->Device: <font color='#000080'>Floor 2 Z-Wave Operating State</font> Set to <font color='#008000'>Operating State 2</font>

I want to be able to send that to my script. It will need further formatting, but gotta start somewhere
