migrating from raspberry pi2 to pi3

    Hello,
I have an HS3 ZEE S2 Edition 3.0.0.368 (Linux) running on raspberry pi2. I recently got pi3 model b. I am trying to migrate from pi2. I tried updating my card and inserting it directly and it did not work. it was stuck on the rainbow screen. Tried loading the hs3 for pi from homeseer as a new set up that won't boot either. I am able to test my pi3 with NOOBS and it works fine. Any suggestion how to migrate it or do I need to pay an upgrade fee of some sort.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi:
    I'm running a HS3 on a PI3 with out any problems.
How did you install the OS? You can run raspberian or NOOBS?

How did you try to install HS3? I need to do the same as my sd card is starting to act up, so I want do do a fresh install. Can't you just follow the HS3 installation instructions? (obviously not!)

So any advice you can give me would be very helpful!

Easiest way to do this is:

1 - backup up the Homeseer 3 directory to a USB stick
2 - download and install currently Zee2 image
      3 - shut down Homeseer 3
4 - copy backup of Homeseer 3 directory to your new Zee2 SD card.
