APCUPSD on Ubuntu Linux 64 bit

@PCP

I understand that the plugin was written to work in Windows.

It is showing up here in the HS3 Pro Linux plugins manager list so I installed it.

I did not see any errors in the logs when installing.

I have installed Nut and using generic USB-HID nut driver with the APC UPS (USB).

This is what I see using the nut driver:

HomeSeerPro:~# upsc ups

Enabling the plugin I see no graphics for the variables, logs are being written to the root directory using backward slash instead of forward slash, it appears to be enabled then disables itself. I see some of the above data in the variables for a short time.

It is understood that the plugin was written for windows.

I am just checking it out for Linux.

Pete,
I've been using it on a SEL with Ununtu 14.04 and MONO 3.28 and it appears to work fine. Images didn't appear on the devices but all functionality appears to be good for the past month or so. Tested by unplugging the UPS from the wall and all statuses were reported to the devices.

Thank you Matt.

Noticed too that when installing the plugin the zip file was removed.

I would like to install the graphics and maybe just do that manually.

The logging still needs to be fixed as it is writing outside of the Homeseer directory; here it creates a Homeseer directory in the root but cannot write to it after it starts.

IE: Homeseer here is in the root.

/HomeSeer/Logs/

It writes:

\Homeseer\Logs\

The plugin is windows only. I contemplated supporting Linux but not at this point and no ETA (if ever). If it shows up as a linux plugin in HS3 on linux I need to discuss this with HST as they control the configuration. They had to fix this once in the past, sorry for the confusion if any. Thanks.

Understood Philippe and thank you for the info.

Yes; it should be removed from the Linux plugins list.

BTW there are many automation newbies on the forum here that have started automating using the original Zee and currently the Zee-2 (RPi).
