Lot of choices so there will be questions.
Between Amazon Echo, Google Home and Apple Home Kit I feel from a security point of view Apple Home Kit is the safest way to go.
I feel that Amazon and Google would be way to accommodating to allow someone to listen in using their devices where Apple would buck the attempt to gain access be it legal or illegal. Having a standalone system is by far the safest way to go.
From my understanding the Speaker Client can both listen and speak. Has anyone done a standalone Speaker Client for a Raspberry Pi so one needs not dedicate a Windows machine to do the job? Requiring a Windows box seems to be such a total wast of equipment, money and power to run it. If not is the specification for the Speaker Client network protocol available so someone could design one?
