    Baby Monitors

    Guys,
I have a close friend that is having their first baby and I'd like to get him a baby monitor. Any suggestions for monitors that do not interfere with wireless routers and phones?

I have a Sony that has the capability to select up to 9 channels. It does not interfere with my routers or phones. Babies R Us carries this model.

      We just bought this one:

      http://www.amazon.com/Angelcare-Move...0285073&sr=8-1

it uses 927mhz for the audio and 2.4ghz for the data carrier.

So far I have NOT had any issues with the wifi or the z-wave switches.

Chose it because of the motion sensors which will hopefully give us peace of mine.

One disclaimer, our baby is not here yet (due in April) but I've had the base station running for a few weeks.

        Options I've looked at

From what I can tell almost all netcams make horrible baby monitors because sound is not well supported. That being said if you have an idevice. Perhaps this would work:

I do not have it and have no idea how well it works.

Also this won't be around till September but it sounds usefull:

I have a Sony audio baby monitor-- and I have a Ycam that is shown in the link. I have an iphone app that allows you to see the baby and get audio. The audio is slightly delayed-- but it works well.

Sorry for disturbing and for bumping....just my 2 cents in this old thread.

We have the Sony Baby Call https://www.evababygear.com/best-baby-monitors/. For DD (almost 3.5) I don't think they even had the 27 channel so we've been very happy with the 9 channel. The parent's base is not rechargable, but I haven't had much issue with it sucking down batteries. We just got the 27channel Baby Call for #2 and the base is rechargeable. So far so good with no interference. The batteries are supposed to hold a charge for 22 hours (can you tell I just read the manual).

I have both monitors plugged in next to each other, a cordless phone, an alarm clock and I keep the tv remote next to all this mess. A few beeps occassionally from the 9 channel (haven't had the 27 channel long enough to have had any issues), but it hasn't been a problem for my light sleeping DH.

The only time we ever have a problem with the 9 channel is if it's in the upstairs office full of computer equipment and the neighbor's cordless phone rings. Then, while the phone is ringing, the monitor buzzes like mad on each ring. I just changed the channels so we'll see if this happens again. Very funny that it's only one specific neighbor's phone, and it's his garage phone--not the main home phone. We tease him that his wife is using us to monitor his "secret" phone conversations.

As far as range goes...I've taken the 9 channel receiver across the street to the neighbor's house with no problems.

Do they need internet access? Our daughter was concerned about that, so they have the Infant Optics DXR-8 which has NO access to the internet.
On their second kid, so they added another camera and it's been working great for them
