I'm using the AT&T and Neospeech voices and they are both resonably good. I think the quality of TTS is fairly subjective and it seems to me that each one I've tested has some strengths and weaknesses.

One thing I have noticed is that sound cards seem to have an effect on the quality of TTS too. No scientific testing, but it seems to me that TTS quality has improved each time I upgraded my sound card. My original HS server had some cheap no-name audio card and the first thing I noticed after replacing it with a SoundBlaster Live was that TTS seemed to sound better.

At some point I moved up again to an M-Audio card and noticed yet another marked improvement in TTS quality. I'm sure the better cards have higher quality DAC's which maybe accounts for the improvement???

tonlof - What TTS voice did you use when recording your example?

      Cheers,
      Paul

Really, really good sound (although the introduction part sounded pretty bad in my opinion).

Sounds like the AT&T Natural Voices Engine to me.

that was pretty good overall- but that annoucer, like my Neospeech babe at home - they're so good at runningonsentencesandnevertakingabreathof air.

I found a bettersound card also was vital in getting smooth speech.

A very expensive Yamaha card was very good near excellent, but seemed to take forever to start talking - SB live has been the best bang for the buck here.

I bought it here in Sweden with one Swedish and one English voice.
I think they have more voices in other countries...

The version I had is Word Read Plus
Working perfectly with speaker.exe in hs2.

If any is interested of a Swedish soundsample just let me know.

              Regards

The demo's did not work. I get the error "Error, please try again later". Did anyone get any result??

I am interested in the Dutch or Belgian Dutch voice.

                  Regards,

                  Richard
