    X10 Dim to off

Does the x10 "Dim To off" command exist in the HS3 plugin. I used it in HS2. Can't seem to find it in HS3.

Upon reviewing the code, I see that this functionality is still available but it is no longer provided as a separate command, and how to do it is not obvious. In an event, set the dim level to 1% and the plugin will perform a DimToOff command. Likewise, setting a dim level of 99% should cause it to brighten to 100%.

      X10 Dim to off

Thanks, I had already tried a relative dim of 100% which seems to work but I was not sure if the switch was actually off. So I follow up the relative dim with an actual x10 off command.

When I send an x10 Dim to 1% command, the light will first brighten to full ON then dim. If the light is already dimmed, this is not an attractive behavior. I only have a few x10 light switches, but they are lights that I want to dim gradually from sunset till 11pm to 40% then dim to off. I am using relative dim of 10% in 5 steps about 40 minutes apart.

Thanks Mark, I will experiment with the dim to 1% and dim to 99%.

I am revisiting this issue using the latest beta version of the x10 plugin.

I am still seeing the same behavior when trying to brighten or dim x10 in several steps. Between the steps the bulb brightness always goes to 100%. In other words, when I try to dim a bulb from 100 to 80 to 60 to 40% it actually does 100 to 80 to 100 to 60 to 100 to 40.

I see this same behavior with relative or absolute dim or brighten.

How can I get a bulb to dim slowly over a several hour time period.

Have you experimented with x10 through Alexa. Some very interesting results.

Yes, I use Alexa to turn on/off some of my x10 lights. But I have not tried dim with Alexa. Does it work?

Hi Steve, thanks for the heads-up on the Relative Dim/Brt issue! I found the problem and have published beta version 3.0.0.45. Unfortunately I am traveling and do not have my X10 test rig with me so I'm not able to test with hardware.

I had made a change in v.39 to resolve an issue where 2 digit X10 commands (10-15) were being truncated to a single digit. At the time I did not realize that the Dim/Brt Relative commands had a letter appended to them internally which resulted in relative dim/brt commands being treated as absolute dim/brt commands and causing standard dim devices to go to full bright first.

Please try v.45 and let me know if this version allows the Dim/Brt Relative commands to work correctly.

Yes. An example would be "Alexa Kitchen Light 40 and it dims to 40%"

Mark, I installed ver 45. Did a quick test. Yes, the dim function is now working correctly. I will work with it more tonight. Thanks for the immediate response. I will post again after I get more experience.

After further testing, the dim function is now working as expected. Thanks for fixing this, Mark.
