Zwave back/forth from HS2 to HS3 while migrating?

Most of my HS3 IO is via MCSXAP which is running really well. I've got a lot of Zwave that I haven't migrated yet and have a question about porting things. I like to test things thoroughly which means I'd need to move my Ztroller from my HS2 to HS3 and then back again. Is it possible to do this just by plugging/unplugging the Ztroller or does the Homeseer Server create some sort of relationship to the Ztroller? Hopefully this is an easy question - thanks!
