Actually two stand out features added. . .remote stations and flow control sensor. The remote stations is a cool addition. It appears I will be considering updated hardware as well. . .

I still need to install the newest version of this plugin. . .and update HS3 version. In the actual Linux plugin list yet?

I just updated the firmware last night and so far so good. One thing I missed (or wasn't in the release notes?) was it resets your firmware on upgrade to 2.1.6. Luckily this plugin still had all the zone info as I hadn't started it yet so could copy/paste. Then had to try to figure out the station timings again. Oh well.

Good news is plugin working great for me too.

I also upgraded to 2.1.6 and things are working fine. I think the updates most important to me were mention of the weather-based adjustments being improved as well as ability to update via the web portal, which I assume means no more USB updater and taking the laptop into the garage. I don't see where web updating is in the interface, but maybe that won't pop up until the next update.

        Plugin is working fine.

Mattyfee, FYI... I still don't see the plugin in the updater for Linux. I don't mind manually updating, but it'd be nice to have it there. More folks would see it as well.

          Comms Fail

          Hi All,

I am new to both HomeSeer and OpenSprinkler. I have been moderately successful getting OpenSprinkler to connect with Homeseer and I can control the valves with the OpenSprinkler device responding (opening the valves), but I continue to see Comms Fail in Homeseer. This is what I have tried so far:

I have changed the Poll to 30 from 5.

I have confirmed the passwords are the same in Homeseer and the OpenSprinkler web interface and I have even tried setting the password to Ignore in the OpenSprinkler web interface.

I have set the port to 8080 in Homeseer and the OpenSprinkler web interface.

          I still see Comms Fail!

Looking at the Homeseer log I see the following:

"OS-Plugin Warning: Firmware detected is 216. Plugin has only been tested up to 215 - be wary of errors." After initialization, which seems to complete without errors, the following error comes up and continues again and again:

"OS-Debug Error: Failed in attempt to set advanced status - Index was outside the bounds of the array."

I have attached the log file. I am running HomeSeer HS3 Pro Edition 3.0.0.208 (Windows) and OpenSprinkler 2.1.5.21 plug-in and the OpenSprinkler firmware version is 2.1.6(1) and the hardware version is 2.2-AC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

          Thanks, Carl

I can take a look tonight. It could be something in firmware v216 which I am unable to test with my hardware version.

One last thing I need from you is the output strings from the Opensprinkler.

Can you please type http://<ipaddress>/jc , and again with js, jn, jo and jp into your web browser and send me the response texts. An example is in the following post. Either post or pm to me and I will fix asap.

            Cheers.
            Matt.

              Hi Matt,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Found out my sump pump wasn't working and had to replace it today. Here are the results:

              Thanks for your help!

Pretty confident I found the issue although I'm stuck on firmware 214 so cant test. Issue was related to the firmware 216(1) where they have reshuffled the order of those text strings (again).

Please load the attached version and if it works I will put this in the official updater.

Since you're new to homeseer, you can manually install by following these instructions:
                1) Disable the plugin from the manage menu.
                2) Overwrite HSPI_Opensprinkler.exe in the program files/homeseer folder with the version I have attached.
                3) Re-enable the plugin from the manage menu.

Let me know if this solves the issue. For anyone else reading - there is no other improvements in this new version - just the bug fix.

                Cheers.
                Matt.

                  Hi Matt,
Tested but still Comms Fail. I restarted HS to be sure, these are the OS results after the restart and I have attached the log as well.

No rush on this, it is winter and I am just rying to get it working before spring. But, thanks again for your help!

                    Hi Matt,

Comms Fail errors are gone!! I finally figured out how to downgrade the firmware. It is very simple, just used the OpenSprinkler Updater and select an older version of the firmware with the down arrow !

When I downgraded 2.1.5 I still had the Comms Fail error on all the zones, but when i used your new/updated plugin with 2.1.5 the Comms Fail disappeared.

Thanks again for all your help!

                      Hi,

Sometimes my HS3 system crashes and I'm getting the following .log message :

Jan-15 07:24:56 OS-Plugin Error: Code Failed attempting to read from OpenSprinkler
                      Where could be the issue?

(After restarting HS3 the message is gone away until it comes again later)

                      Regards,
                      Fischi

                        Carl -

Glad to hear you got it working, however I want to make sure my plugin works for all firmware.

I'm a bit confused with your post - you say you tried the new plugin but it didnt work, then you downgraded firmware, it didnt work and then you updated the plugin version and it did work? If you upgraded the plugin the first time you shouldnt have had to do it again. I'm thinking maybe you didn't update it properly the first time or something weird.

Anyway, I've run the tests and don't see anything wrong that would cause it to fail - hopefully it works for others.

Fischi - I'm pretty sure that the error message is a symptom of your HS3 system crashing and the hs.GetURL() command used within my plugin is failing. If that command does not return a string then that particular error message will result.

                          Matt,

Interesting that you found a communication change with 2.16 as I have been using that version on the OSPi for some time without issue. Glad you found a workable solution Carl.

I continue to have "No Comms" shown on the homeseer device zones... however, I can control it and the last program run shows up.

Is there an issue that my status shows up with a -1 status when off?

See post 290 and 291 above. if you can post your outputs to those 5 commands then I can troubleshoot. Yes it will still accept commands, but the bit in my plugin that parses the text responses is not finding the bit it needs to find and therefore reporting comms errors. Something seems to have changed in the latest firmware. I can fix it quickly if you post your responses.

Oh sorry - first can you try the version I have posted above in post 292. This if that doesn't work please do what I said above.

                              Cheers.
