    Can't install plugin

I'm having trouble installing the plugin. I get as far as clicking the Download and Install button, but then I receive the message "Install/Update of package ISYInsteon Plugin failed" I've restarted both HomeSeer and the computer and I can't get this working. Any tips?

Is there any actual error reported in the log?

I put the update zip file in the Zips folder within Updates3 but this is what the log says:

Jun-06 4:10:38 PM Updater Install/Update of package ISYInsteon Plugin failed.
Jun-06 4:10:38 PM Updater Error Installation of package ISYInsteon Plugin failed. The installation file 'HSPI_ISYInsteon_3_0_0_41.zip' does not exist. Please retry download.

Is the HSPI_ISYInsteon_3_0_0_41.zip file still in Updates3/Zips?

HomeSeer will delete the zip file after installation (maybe even after a failed installation).

The "download and install" button isn't really correct when using the updater_override.txt file. Nothing is actually downloaded so you need to make sure to manually put the installation file in the Updates3/Zips directory.

I'll get that same error if I try to install and the file is missing, but when the file is in the Updates3/Zips, it is installing.

It disappears after I attempt the install and I am left with an empty folder in the Updates3 directory.

Is there something else in the log for the first attempt after placing the HSPI_ISYInsteon.zip file in the Zips folder?

The log messages you posted above indicate that the file didn't exist in the folder when you tried to install.

If you still have problems after copying the HSPI_ISYInsteon.zip file back into the Zips folder, try the updater_override.txt file I've attached here. This file will pull everything from my server directly, no need to download and copy the zip file.

Thanks, Bob. Using that file, it says the install/update was successful. However, under plug-in status, I'm getting a message that says:

WARNING: Failed getting InterfaceStatus from ISYInsteon - the interface was not found in the list of active interfaces, the list may need to be refreshed.

I deleted the plugin and reinstalled and got the same message. Is there something else I need to do?

Does the ISY need to be connected directly to my PC via serial? Currently, I have it connected to my network (same network as Homeseer PC).

Is the plug-in actually running after you install it? Can you get to the plug-in's configuration screen from the PLUG-INS menu? If so, have you entered the username/password for the ISY?

No, the ISY should stay connected to the network and the PLM like it normally does. The plug-in communicates with the ISY via the network.

It doesn't look like its running and i see no way to get to the configuration screen from the plugins menu. Here is a screenshot of what I'm seeing:

Thanks for you help on this. Sorry I've been so annoying, but I really want to try this plugin out!

Ok, that's not what I expect to happen.

There's a checkbox at the top of the plug-in management screen to enable developer mode. Can you check that and try restarting the plug-in?

It should open a console window that will show log/debug messages as the plug-in starts. If it doesn't immediately close the window, it will hopefully provide a bit more information about what is happening.

I'll try a couple of things here too to see if I can reproduce it.

Bob, this is strange, but it looks like it's working now. Thanks for all your help!

It looks like I'm able to reproduce it. I'm not sure when I broke things so that it doesn't start on initial install.

What ISY firmware are you running?

Wait, I'm wrong, it is working for me. How long did you wait? It does take a minute or so to create the configuration database. Then the message should change to Initializing. Once that happens, if you reload the web page, the ISYInsteon's plug-in's web pages should appear on the menu and you'll be able to configure the plug-in.

It's been a while since I tried a clean install of the plug-in. I'll work on documenting the steps. Documentation is something that's sorely missing at this point.
