    Working non-Gmail settings?

Well, I am finally getting around to looking at an alternative to Gmail to address the intermittent random HS3 crashes that my SEL suffers from which I documented here ... https://forums.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=187135

For alternatives, I've just tried Outlook and Yahoo but for the life of me, I can't get either to work using their official settings from their respective websites.

    https://www.outlook-apps.com/outlook-com-pop-settings/
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4724.html

I usually get a log message such as this. Selecting or unselecting the SSL option makes no difference:

Unable to connect to POP server(2) pop3.live.com Error: Authenticate as SSL client failed. You might be connecting to non SSL port.
Exception sending email via smtp.mail.yahoo.com (To:abwyatt.homeseer@gmail.com, cc:, bcc:, Sub:From Zee S2, Attach = Authenticate as SSL client failed. You might be connecting to non SSL port.
Has anyone had any success with either Outlook or Yahoo on the SEL or Zee S2? If so, would you care to share your settings.

Pointers to other email alternatives would also be appreciated.

I just tried the Outlook POP server with SSL unchecked (port 995) instead of Live server and I am getting a different log message. It looks like it is getting access, but then being stopped by 'antivirus or firewall'. Is that on the Outlook server end or on my end in the SEL linux system? POP is enabled in the Outlook mail settings.

May-05 11:27:44 AM Error Unable to connect to POP server(1) pop-mail.outlook.com Error: Last network operation failed.
May-05 11:27:44 AM Error Unable to connect to POP server(2) pop-mail.outlook.com Error: Tried to read a line. Only '' received. Please make sure that antivirus and firewall software are disabled or configured correctly.
May-05 11:26:56 AM email Start checking server for email using POP
May-05 11:26:56 AM Startup Initializing email, will check server for new email
When I enable SSL, I get this:

May-05 11:38:41 AM Error Unable to connect to POP server(1) pop-mail.outlook.com Error: Last network operation failed.
May-05 11:38:41 AM Error Unable to connect to POP server(2) pop-mail.outlook.com Error: Authenticate as SSL client failed. You might be connecting to non SSL port.
May-05 11:38:37 AM email Start checking server for email using POP
May-05 11:38:37 AM Startup Initializing email, will check server for new email
According to Outlook's documentation, pop-mail.outlook.com on 995 does not require SSL but uses TLS. So wondering if this has something to do with the TLS certificate on the SEL.

      Same problem here

I tried both gmail setup and office 365 Outlook setup, and neither works.

For Gmail just use the built-in Gmail settings at the top of the Homeseer email settings page.

Two things to do to get Gmail working.

First you need to allow less secure apps (in this case, HS3) to access your Google Gmail account. Follow this Google instruction ... https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255

If it still does not work, make sure your TLS certificate is updated if you have an old SEL, or if you have restored the SEL system from disk. See this sticky post ...

I've had Gmail working on my Zee S2 and SEL since day 1. Try the above and see how you go.
