Beta: Vista Alarm Plugin v1.2.7.1 - who armed/disarmed the panel

Its finally here! Trigger events based on who armed or disarmed the panel.

i'm looking for a few brave souls to try this out. It requires enabling the Long Range Radio on your panel, a new plugin and a new ad2usb firmware. Lots of change.

Please follow my installation procedure below so you can test the changes as you install and upgrade components.

    Requirements
    - An V2.2 or V2.3 AD2USB with firmware ademcoemu_V2_2a_5_beta.zip (provided below)
    - V2.0 ad2usb are not supported

    New Features
    - Adds a trigger what that will identify which panel user (by user number (1 to n) armed or disarmed the system. No new devices are created at this time.
    - Revised the firmware upload feature of the plugin

    Installation and Configuration:
    0. Backup your homeseer mdb and the vistaalarm.ini. This is very important if you want to rollback if something goes wrong. Please do not skip this step!
    1. Install the new plugin (shutdown hs and replace the old dll with the new one)
    2. Test the plugin that its still working with your current ad2usb.
    3. Use the plugin to load the new firmware attached below; unzip to your desktop to make finding it easy. See the Firmware page in the plugin
    4. Test the plugin again that its monitoring zones, etc
    5. Enable the LRR from the plugin config page
    6. Configure the panel as outlined on the nutech page below
    7. Create a "Vista Alarm User Trigger" as a test. You need to provide the paritition, user id (1,2,etc) , and event. user 1 is the Installer code, user 2 is the master code, user 3 is the first created user code, etc. You have to know which user code are mapped to which user numbers. The plugin does not manage this.
    8. Arm the system from a keypad and see if the trigger fires.
    9. report your results
    10. Good luck

Please refer to the nutech.com post to configure your panel to enable Long Range Radio messages (LRR). I can only help a little on this. I'm no expert on the dozen or so panels. The following should help. See the "Long Range Radio Emulator !LRR Messages" section for details.

If you are willing to give this a try, please post a reply so I know someone is taking the plunge.

    Moving to this thread

    Mark,

Yes, I am following these instructions and upgrading ro the 1.2.7.1 version. The DLL is loaded and is working fine. I tested it pretty well and was working on the FW upgrade when I had the issues noted in the previous thread.

      Thanks Chris,
if you don't mind, please enable debugging in the plugin and try the fw upload again. this will provide a line by line log of the upload similar to using the nutech.com firmwareupload cmdline utility. This will help pinpoint where the upload died.

if this doesn't work, please use the firmwareupload utility to load the fw, and continue with the installation.

      thanks

          Mark,

After some trials yesterday I discovered that my USB port was fine and it was the AD2usb that was in an odd state. Here is the last set of tests that I used to determine that was the case.

          1. Turned on debug and attempted to upload new firmware here is the log with debug turned on :

            Works well

            Mark,

Pleased to report that I have successfully gotten this to work. Setting the LRR was a bit adventuresom as the instructions on the Nutech site are directionally correct but not exact.

I now have a set of events that greets the different members of the family as they disarm and another to alert me if the master or installer code is used to arm/disarm.

I am going to let it bake for a few days and then start modifing the events that are alarm centric to reflect the user that unarmed the system. For example I like Jazz playing when I arrive but my grandkids like something a bit "harder".

I will check back in with any issues if they crop up over the week-end.

Thank you for the excellent plug-in,

            Chris

That's excellent news! Thanks for reporting back.

Yah, the panel programming is always the hardest part. If you could post what you actually did, that might be helpful for the next brave soul.

Yes, the world of alarms has come a long way since the early 70's when I pulled wire for an Alarm Company!

Had an oddity last night when I went to set the alarm to ARM-STAY. Got the following set of messages in the log. There was nothing of note during the day leading up to this and I was off painting so no touches to HS. After seeing the closed port message, I enabled debuging and bounced the monitor. At that point everything began to function as expected. I left debug on just in case it might catch something but all is well and no strangeness in the log.

                  Chris,
this kind of error is usually caused by an issue with the usb connection and the ftdi chipset drivers.

checkout items 1-6 on the following post. The ad2usb and Insteon usb PLM have a similar usb connection

                      HS2

Only 2 years later but finally trying to get this to work.

I turned on LRR on the AD2USB using putty
I can set Homeseer Vista Alarm User Triggers

The AD2USB and panel are sending the LRR Code:

                      8/31/2014 1:55:05 PM Vista Alarm !LRR:002,ARM_STAY

                      But no luck.
I also don't see anywhere on the v1.2.71 plugin to turn on LRR on the plugin Config Page.
" Step 5. Enable the LRR from the plugin config page"

                      Thanks

can you post the response the ad2usb provides when you enter a V command in a putty or terminal window. the result should look something like the following

                        !VER:000004e2,V2.2a.5-beta14,TX;RX;SM;VZ;RF;ZX;RE;AU;3X;CG;DD;MF;LR;KE

note: you can stop (turn off) the monitor device in the plugin without having to stop HS

This is an early version of the V2.2 firmware, I am hoping that it will work because I am seeing the LRR text in the debug file.

If needed, I will need to figure out a way to upgrade the FW because it won't work from the plugin and I can't get the Nutech Keypad to run on the HS PC.

                          Thank!

This is an early version of the V2.2 firmware, I am hoping that it will work because I am seeing the LRR text in the debug file.

If needed, I will need to figure out a way to upgrade the FW because it won't work from the plugin and I can't get the Nutech Keypad to run on the HS PC.

                            Thank!
You to upgrade your fw to at least the version i posted.

please check in with nutech about the difficulty in upgrading the fw.

OK, thanks. I updated the FW to the most current off of the Nutech site using the virtual keypad. The current stable firmware is V2.2a.6.

Working now, Thanks! Useful feature. Only took two years for me to get around to it.

Glad I got the virtual keypad working (used a virtual serial port on another PC). I want to purchase the Panel Programming downloader from Sean,
