Dumb Q: Upgrading to beta z wave plugin

Hi - I feel like I must've missed an instruction somewhere - but what is the supported way to upgrade to the beta zwave plugin?

When I tried just a simple install it failed with logs of errors in the log about duplicate stuff.

Maybe I have to disable the existing z-wave plugin first? Will I need to re-add my z-wave controller also?

I found that with updating any plugin, disabling first is the way to go.
