    Internet Security- Air Gap

Is anyone using a z-wave, x10, or a WiFi module to switch off your cable modem overnight to disconnect access to/from the internet? Does it work reliably or are there reconnection issues?

This seems like a cheap and very easy way to add more home automation security. Especially for cloud based services.

Using PFSense you can create a firewall rule to block internet access to a MAC address (IE: Homeseer) then define a schedule for the rule or all internet access on a LAN.

You can do similiar with DD-WRT or OpenWRT OS firewalls.
