Can Echo identify which room it is in?

I want to place one echo in every room in the house, but for example if i am in the bedroom and i say alexa lights off, is there a way that it switches off only the bedroom lights?

Seems to work with Jon00's plugin, as mentioned above.

The ability is built into the Echo APIs however it's a bit messy to use at this point. Amazon didn't just pass the friendly name but a long basically random number which will change whenever you delete and re-add the Skill or Smart Home function. So you have to associate this ID with your locations the Echo's are placed at.

Since Amazon has been working in this area hopefully they will make this easier for the programmers to use.

Has this gotten any 'less messy' to use?

As soon as the homeseer skill supports the "alexa-enabled" groups then this should happen...
