how to take a camera snapshot that doesn't support the snapshot username/pswd in URL

i have a few Dahua cameras that prompt for a username/pswd via the standard browser login window when referencing the /cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi? snapshot URL

i haven't found a url to provide username & pswd to override the prompt

does this mean one must POST for a snapshot instead of using the url GET
